Thanks for sharing, and am looking forward to the final build. It’s unfortunate that the bulk of after market parts are so crappy, but good to see you adapt and make it work.

I'm glad before I started repairing my 59 body I bought myself a plasma a mig welder to go with my oxyacetylene and AC 295 amp Arc welder I also got Body and fender hammrs .Dolly's ect.... multiple angel grinders so I would not have to keep changing disks for cut grind sand ect...2 air DA sanders 1 electric...and had 3 paint guns but picked up 3 more because I wasn't going to use my good ones for primer..a flanger punch unit and air shears...I only allowed myself $100-150 dollars a month to build my car... that is for parts tools etc...it can be done... just shop wisely...and be patient....

The fitment of the aftermarket parts is always a challenge.. I had to massage many parts on my 65.

Amazing work, keep at it. One of my fondest memories is in my uncle’s 1963 Black with red leatherette ragtop, waiting for the Circus Train to pass and stop. Mind you it was a five year old car and i was six! Looking forward to your progress.

I like doing the rear inner fender mount before I take the body off. That way I know it's aligned directly where it needs to be. I feel the front mounts (trunk area to the beam) and the rear area shown are most important when doing major body repair. Those points hold the body right where it needs to be when you cut out the heater channels to replace.

I surprises me, the lengths you guys in the upper States go to, to restore what may be considered a wreck in Australia . We don't have the rust/salt issues . Even when I catch a unintentional glimpses of later model vehicles, they are rusting away ..OMGoodneess .. You guys must have a high salt diet... Keep up the great work , ''He with stands with hands in pockets' ..Don't tell Jason, but you're my favourite LOL ! Kind regards Alex

Great video! I could actually use that section you removed where the engine seal strip attaches. For some weird reason my 59 is rusted away right there!

How do you know exactly where to weld on the new piece since you cut off the original? What sort of reference do you have to be sure it’s in the correct position? I would make a template or something…?

Most surprising to me as someone who hasn't done much more than tune air engines - even the original shock mount flange was designed to have to wrap around or into the concave section. Weird.
