Those are some nice cars. My dad had the 60 classic 660 wagon in a dark blue. 287 v8 auto, no air, no cruise. I ended up driving it way later in 74 and sold it to friend when it had 125k on it (he drove it to 250k and junked it :( ). The starter, radiator, alternator, and water pump all went before 100k and the timing chain went around 100k or so. My friend had an identical wagon in gold and we use to sing the Allman Brothers "Ramblin' man" and substitute "Rambler Man" for the chorus. Oh the memories :)

I'm in the process of saving a '66 AMC Rambler Rebel 327ci/Auto. Found in a Kansas field. Not as nice as yours. I'm finding that parts are very rare for these cars. Regardless, it's a piece of auto history that deserves saving. Roughly 7400 Rebel's were built. Very few are left in road worthy condition.

Love the rebels, most of them got cut up for drag racing cause they are so light being unibody

The company did not refer to itself as "AMC" until 1969.....it was "american Motors" previously.

Nice car worth restoring. My dad had a 1964 Classic 550, basic car straight drive inline six, four door. He kept it for four years before trading it on a 1968 Ford Fairlane with a 5.0 V8 and automatic. The Rambler had a bad habit of regular electrical fires, did it a lot, the wiring harness was replaced many times along with the voltage regulator and anything electrical, you might want to check the wiring out. Enjoy the car, hope you get it out on the road soon !!!

Thanks for the heads up, the wiring gets a bit crispity especially up around the engine so I’ll keep an eye on it. 🤙

Beautiful! Is that an Ambassador grille?
@rustybobs
@rustybobs 3 года назад
Nope, factory 770 grille

Ambassador grille was the same but had ambassador letters through the middle

Bob i hate to tell you but I do believe that you do have an Ambassador grille. The letters look to have been removed. The classic grille was all polished aluminum and the Ambassador grille had a black stripe down the center as yours does. If yours was damaged and when it was damaged they may have only been able to get an Ambassador grille. Even those are now gone as well I believe. I restore these grills and have one for a 64 classic that is actually better then new. Ken

Yes. the Ambassador letters have been removed. The original grille has Rambler stamped into the top bar of the grille with the indentations painted black. Very nice car and looks great!

You have a beauty there. Grew up with Rambler wagons when l was a kid back in the sixties. Nice to see one that has been looked after. Thanks for the video, just came in from snow shovelling in Ontario, Canada. Looks awesome where you are. Cheers!!

I have the same car 64 Classic 770 which I’m restoring. It is not nearly in the same good shape as yours. We recently moved back to US after 12 years in Auckland .... weird similarity ! I will keep checking back on your channel to see your progress. Good luck!

I forgot to mention that the alternator and regulator are original. The Motorola regulators are not available and rarely have a problem. Likewise on the alternator. They can be rebuilt but the Motorola tag is removed. They were excellent and usually had no issues. Also your upholstery is not original. At some point it was redone. Not unusual as the original cloth has rayon in it and usual deteriorates in the sun. Ken

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the German Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer...

I guess if they outlaw petrol only outlaws will use it lol

@@rustybobs Biggest problem is China, China told our EU politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic or industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China....:-( China also banned all kind of synthetic fuels or hydrogen combustion. Because these are not energy efficient)
@KDoyle4

Nonsense. They will ban the sale of new gas and diesel cars in 2035, but you can drive your old car as long as you care to maintain it.

sadly not in EU and many states of the USA

@@Schlipperschlopper No states in the USA are going to take away anyone's old car as long as it's roadworthy.
