@@What.its.like. I recall when I bought my first car in 1970. I happened to be at the Chevy dealership when my car was delivered from the factory. It was a 1970 Chevy BelAir. On the same truck was a 1970 Buick LeSabre. The salesman remarked that there wasn’t a dimes worth of difference between the Chevy and the Buick. Except that the Buick was more expensive than the Chevy.

Awesome story great memories I got to drive this one it was incredible. The owner also owns a 67 GTO and I drove the GTO first the GTO is totally different in the sense that it’s a cable versus the GS is linkage it’s a bit stiff compared to the GTO.

My G.S. got 4 mpg, didn't care, "Smiles per Gallon"😮😂❤❤❤

@BradLeonard-sq6og I love the 69, 70 Grand Prix. Our neighbors had one. He ordered all his cars Have the Elecoclear rear window. I think Pontiac called it that. Defogger. 428 4 barrel. In 72, mom was looking for a car. We looked at the Buick Skylark, Oldsmobile Cutlass S, Luxury Le Man's. I was pushing for the Pontiac. On the showroom floor. Red, black vinyl top. Bucket seats console, Rally ll wheels. Fender skirts rear. 350 Pontiac motor. It was 400 bucks less than the Cutlass S. Mom didn't like the front end on Pontiacs with the beak. We got the Cutlass. 350 rocket. Oldsmobile didn't offer a 6 in any of their cars. I heard that Oldsmobile had the best 350. I don't know. It was an excellent car! No trouble ever. It would fly. Power drum brakes Offer Power on discs or drums. Listed for 4116.00. GM had the best A/C in any division, in my opinion. In 76, I got my first job. Neighborhood grocery store. Dad and mom helped me get my car. 1976 Grand Le Man's. A beautiful car. I paid the note 100.00 bucks a month. Console, factory 8 track. AM-FM Stereo. The A/C would blow you out. Sure, I wish I had kept it. I love Pontiacs. I hope to find a Grand Prix someday. That's when they made cars a piece of artwork. My best to all. I have been so blessed. One last thing, I am a member of the Pontiac club. So I see so beautiful Pontiacs and stories how Pontiac was saved in the mid-50s. They made Semon E. Bunkie Knudson. The general manager of PMD. His dad was president of GM in the 30s. Pontiac was 8th in sales. They gave him 5 years to turn it around. That's when they came up Wide- Track. Bunkie had some great engineering and style people. By the early 60s, Pontiac was 3rd in sales. I know this long. I believe they made the best-looking cars of any division. Sad they went away with Oldsmobile.

This is one of my all-time favorite GM designs of all time especially from the Bill Mitchell era I think this might be my favorite Bill Mitchell design and that’s saying a lot because Bill Mitchell designed some really cool cars.. I absolutely hate it when people put the donk wheels on them as well I don’t mind if they’re lowered a little bit but it depends on the car.. but I’m not an airbag guy I got to drive a car that was on airbags and I wasn’t a fan.. It was actually a truck it still felt like you were moving or swaying rather when the car stopped it was a very unsettling feeling and I was like why does people like this.. I could go on and on and on about things that I don’t like that people spend lots of money doing it doesn’t make it any better for the car Like aftermarket steering systems such as power steering units they change the whole column sometimes they put like a GM 1980s GM column the most hideous steering column they ever made in these older cars.. The other one is they make a brand new steering wheel column that has power steering and tilt wheel but thing is every single car I’ve probably driven 20 cars that have this power steering system in it every single one has a dead spot towards the top it sucks.. it takes up more space than the regular steering wheel so you’re robbing yourself of space with a power steering rack that doesn’t work that well.. there is nothing wrong with manual steering less to go wrong just my opinion tho

I am with you nothing more I like than seeing a all original 1960s or other era's car in beautiful condition and nothing more I can't stand than seeing a beautiful older car in great condition only to be ruined by people putting crap on the car that doesn't fit the era of the car sure they can do it they own it but in my opinion they just totally ruined the beautiful original looks of the car

Yes, the Buick V8’s that succeeded the nailheads had the oil pumps at the front of the engine on the timing cover, but this ‘65 Buick Riviera had a nailhead, which had the oil pump in the oil pan … BTW, I agree - those boat tail Buicks were beautiful.

Started early, started pumping gas at 15, had highschool auto shop, applied was I was learning in class to on the job, eventually busting tires oil and transmission services, made bank on inspections, I'd inspect on the island and up sell a lot, was a natural, off to UTI, came home and first job offer was selling cars, figured WTH, it's related and it's all customer service, and I'll get a tech job soon, 9.7 years later... Boom long story here, 34 years I guess it would be long... I ran into an old friend that had recently built his shop from the ground up, 3 buildings, (1 rented) on his own property very large place, 9 bays between 2 buildings, alignment rack, California Smog Certified, Tune Up, Steering, Brakes, Suspension, so spent about 20 years as a Service Writer, Service Advisor, and Service Manager. Also very fluent in Napa cataloging, as we were one of many coast to coast Napa Auto Care Center's, man I could write a book or 3 on my experiences in this industry.

It was that day was one of the best days me and the owner became friends got to drive two incredible cars that day 67 Gto and the Buick Rivera two totally different cars both great. =)

The 63 and 64s come up for sale on Facebook marketplace you can get them for like 15 grand GS that’s a totally different story those are pretty expensive 1965 is the most sought after year because of the clamshell styleheadlights so they command a higher asking price. But if you didn’t care about the clamshell headlights you could get them between 10 and 15 grand sometimes cheaper depending on condition but I’m talking a decent car not one that needs work.. probably like middle range like a three it would be like a driver it wouldn’t be like a show winning car but you could you be surprised what comes up for sale on marketplace

That’s crazy considering how much these cost back in the day especially when you started adding options Price tag could get up there very easily

@@What.its.like. I think they bought them used. I desperately wish I still had one of them. My dad's rusted out completely. Beautiful cars that didn't last long. The beauty of the Riv is one reason I was inspired to build my own car.

63 and 64 are very similar 65 is the only year with the clam shell lights

Did you like your 65 skylark? Those are cool cars I like the looks of the wildcats as will especially 66/67 wildcats but the rivera lines as so good felt like a million bucks driving this

I got to drive this fir a while lots I didn’t record owner let me shift manual and I’ll tell you it’s a whole different car when you do it so fast man I wish I would have recorded that the sound was incredible it’s a low rev engine red line is 4-4,500 rpm the engine sound at the end of the rpm range it’s a sound like no other engine

Totally agree top 5 best Buick’s of all time the only thing holding it back the auto transmission, but if you shift manually it will go pretty good

I wish I would have recorded shifting both cars the sound the Buick had when under power was like nothing else.. same owner owned both this and the gto both great cars only two things I didn’t like about the Buick one it’s thirsty two the gas pedal took a bit of getting used to very stiff because of the linkage but was a blast to drive

Honestly, there are too many things I like, pro/the clamshell hide-away headlamps may be my favorite, con/ when you take her out, you can’t park just anywhere.

That’s awesome I did not see it on here on this one I was in a 65 Riviera today where I saw it I have no idea how one sets it.. there might be a comparison episode coming just saying it’s probably not going to happen until December but I shot it today..

I saw it. Look at the speedo when you first do a closeup of it. It's near 70, I think...

At 20 min/47 sec there's a closeup. The green needle is actually pointing more at 80...(more my speed 😁) If I'm not mistaken, pushing that trip meter button clears that, but if you turn it you can set the speed alert where you want it.

Yeah I wonder how many survived.. they are getting pricey now the gran sports are.. it’s possible to get the regular Riviera with 401 nailhead it’s a little better on gas

Totally agree this was and is the bankers/gentleman’s hot rod after that experience I filed that in the sixteen candle light that is a car I’d own 63-65 I dig 66-67 as well boat tails are nice as well and doesn’t have to be a GS the linkage is tight not sure if that’s the right word but gas pedal is hard to press down but when you press the pedal down it takes off because you have a single barrel carb for each cylinder with dual quad so it’s a balance thing and it’s only bad after you stop when your moving it frees up.. the owner will tell you the same thing he is really cool glad to call him a friend =)
