Another amazing Corvair, John. That design is, as you say, amazing. This was the year Car & Driver called it "the American Porsche". If only. IMagine the car it would be now if, like the corvette, it had continued.

I'm with you. They are fantastic cars, especially to enter the classic car hobby with but also, you need to be aware of their mechanicals or no someone who is as they are very unconventional. Not complicated at all. Just different...
Tire pressure question: On the first generation(1959-63) Corvair sedans and coupes, GM specified an 11psi rear to front tire pressure offset, owing to the rear engine/powertrain configuration of these cars. Did that same Front 15 / Rear 26 psi recommendation carry over with the 1964 to end of the line?
@@orphancargarage5746 Thanks. I'm known in my circles as TPC(Tire Pressure Compulsive)! lol because I want to share my experience with correct/recommended tire pressure with other drivers. Do I think that adhering to GM's specified tire pressrues for Corvair would have been the silver bullet in every loss of control/ rollover case for Corvair 1.0(1959-63)? No. But I think such incidents would have been cut at least in half, if only drivers, as well as garages, bothered to look for the recommended cold pressures, either somewhere on the car itself or right where they were listed, in the manual. Hmmm.. where would Corvairs tire presures be stuck on the car itself back then - under the trunk lid? Glove compt? Since the 1990s, the driver's B-door pillar has been the standardized location for it, with some car mgs.(Mercedes, Porsche) listing additional pressures inside the fuel filler door.
