This beautifully restored 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Custom is loaded with upgrades including a 5.0L 302 Roller V8, Tremec 5-speed transmission and Vintage Air Conditioning. As the VIN number indicates this (A-Code) Pony Car was originally built in Dearborn, MI as a 1965 Fastback with a 289 4-barrell V8 rated at 225hp. It was the product of a rotisserie nut and bolt restoration. This example is in show quality condition throughout. From the information gathered it was finished in 2020 and has 1,980 since completion. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car in March of 2024 and started the service process in April of 2024. MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $13,287.57 in parts and labor which is documented with an invoice that’s included. June of 2024 is the first time we’ve listed it for sale.
The exterior of this car is eye-candy with its factory sleek fastback design and gorgeous color combination. The body was taken to bare metal and repainted in the factory color of Poppy Red. The paint was recently detailed by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS to a glossy finish. The front windshield and door vent glass with chrome trim was replaced new. The original factory Car-lite stamped glass is in very good condition with minimal wear. Everything on the exterior was replaced new such as the glass trim, wipers, dual mirrors, power antenna, GT grill with fog lights, headlights, front bumper, parking bezels and lenses, emblems, door handles, key cylinders, tail light bezels and lenses, gas cap, rear bumper, exhaust trim rings and license plate bracket. The car sits on new Legendary Wheel styled alloy wheels that are charcoal and machined. The front wheels are 17x7 and the rear wheels are 17x8. The wheels are wrapped with BF Goodrich G-Force Sport which are 225-45-17 on the front and 245-45-17 on the rear. These custom wheels are a modern version of the originals which keep the factory looking appearance.
The Red and White Deluxe Pony interior of this car complements the exterior color perfectly. Everything was restored or replaced such as the headliner, rear view mirror, dash pad, gauge cluster, gauges, center console, door panels and hardware, seats, rear folding seat, pedals and carpeting. It’s been outfitted with wood trim, wood three-spoke steering wheel, Rally-Pac with tachometer and clock. Some of the custom upgrades include Vintage Air Conditioning, Custom Autosound USA 740 AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo, speaker, seat belts, Hurst shifter, arm rest with cup holders and carpeted floor mats. Everything in the interior is in working order including the ice cold air conditioning. The painted trunk compartment is home to a non-matching full-size spare and factory style trunk mat.
The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many new parts. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were painted in the satin black. It’s been outfitted with a chrome shock tower brace. The heart of this Mustang is a 5.0L 302 Roller V8 that was completely rebuilt and runs excellent. The engine was dressed with a Summit Racing intake, Holley Street Warrior 600CFM carburetor, Cobra black finned valve covers, Mustang black oval air cleaner, custom pulleys, chrome oil pan and Pertronix all-in electronic ignition system with Ford Racing spark plus wires. The engine is cooled by a new factory style black radiator and fan. The engine breathes through new Sanderson ceramic coated shorty headers and dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. The engine is coupled to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt and shifts smoothly. The engine is coupled to a Ford 8.8” rear end with 31-spline axles, 3.73 gears and a Perfect Launch differential cover.
The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout with many new parts. The floors and frame rails were painted satin black. It was outfitted with a new fuel tank and fuel lines. A new power steering system was added by MS CLASSIC CARS. The suspension system was upgraded including Bilstein shocks. The braking system was upgraded including power four wheel discs.
