This is the version of the Falcon that has 6EU7 preamp tubes. It is electronically identical to the Maestro M-216RVT. An earlier version of this amp had 12ax7 preamps tubes. The speaker is a 12" AlNiCo Quam, which I'm pretty sure is original. Amp has been fully serviced. Some minor modifications to the tremolo circuit, which had not been working previously.

That guitar can do it all and no pedals will ever be needed!

I have a '63 Epiphone EA-28RVT Pathfinder. It is similar as well, if not the same electronically. It didn't have the tone-sucker network in it. It is still bright, but it thickens up when dimed. It has a Jensen C12r. I love it!

My 63' came with a weber Ferromax speaker. It remained pretty clean at full volume. I recently put a weber 12a125a (30w) in and now enjoy earlier break up, and a nicer woody tone. I think I will try the same 12a125a, but in the 20 watt version to push the break up even a bit earlier.

Just traded a guitar I'm not playing for a 1962 one of these. I look forward to getting it and playing it.

I have 2 of these amps. Just like yours. I am addicted to the "chimey" sound and touch responce I get. For a real treat, try the monitor out into a large amp. People always ask me how I get such nice tone at gigs. I know it has a lot to do with my amplifier.

So it has a pitch shifting vibrato?

+Konstantin Kovalev No, the GA-19RVT has true tremolo. It operates by affecting the output tube bias. This style tremolo produces a very fluid swell from zero volume through clean all the way up through whatever overdriven level you have the volume set to. It's probably the most organic type of trem, in my experience with vintage tremolos.

Thanks for the demo; beauty amp. The tremolo section could've gone on for another 35 minutes as far as I'm concerned

Brad - I picked up a '51 GA-20 after watching your video and now a local store's got a dang Falcon... this video sounds amazing, think i'm gonna have to pick it up.

You've done well with the brown GA20. You can't really go wrong with a Falcon either. If you miss out on the one at your local store, this one in the video is for sale. I do ship with Paypal.

how much louder is the falcon than the brown GA-20? or is it at all? the GA-20 is perfect for small groups, practicing, and recording, but it doesn't keep up with a loud band. i guess i'm looking for the same sound but with more power behind it, what do you recommend? and how much are you looking to get for the falcon? i'll be swinging by that store this afternoon

Conor Meara Both of those amps were pretty loud in my experience, but the GA19 may have been a bit louder. I haven't had them side by side, so I can't say for certain. I know the GA19 had more clean headroom in the examples I've had. As for my Falcon, I'm sorry, it's already sold. I misremembered what I had onhand. The one I was thinking of was a GA8T Discoverer. I have one of those right now, not the Falcon. Sorry for the confusion.

ah. it's fine, thanks for responding to me in the first place! more headroom would be good... when a drummer gets loud the GA-20 either gets lost or completely saturated, i'd like to have the somewhat clean bordering-on-breaking-up tone but louder, it seems like most of these old gibson amps hover around 15-20ish watts. maybe i should just get a second small one and run an A B pedal into the ga-20 and another... either that, find a louder gibson, or be a total slave to the sound man at any gig (which could be disastrous)

That amp sounds awesome. nice playing. I recently had the chance to play on one in very good condition. It sounded just like that! I loved it. My friend owns Trygar Music. Always has vintage stuff for sale.

Thanks for watching! Check out my other videos where I discuss in detail how to modify one of these to improve them even further. In stock form, the Crestline Falcons are very good, especially with Gibson guitars or humbucker/P90 guitars, but with Fender-type single coils, theyu can be a bit thin and lacking in volume. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wE1PITxttWM.html

is that the one that you modded but taking out the tone sucking cap/resistor combination. Also I had one given to me but doesn't have the original power trans. do you know what the number of the original is and who made it? It also is a mess inside, I have lots of work ahead on me. Thanks and always informative and GREAT playing!

This one was not not modfied by me. for the modded version, see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wE1PITxttWM.html I think I also show the original PT in that vid, so the numbers are in the vid too. Thanks for watching!
