Restoration of Jody's first car. He bought it when he was 14 from the original owner. We restored it to original except the side mirrors and shift knob which the car had when he bought it all those years ago. This is an A code, 289 4 barrel, 4spd, Disc brake, A.C. from the factory, a GT package before they called it a GT. Built Oct 13 1964, fastbacks did not start production until Sept 64.

Impressive workmanship = beautiful result. Would you mind saying what kind of rotisserie you're using. It looks like Accessible Systems design. I'm too old, fat, and lazy to do the work required laying on my back, on the concrete floor so a good rotisserie is a must for my project.

Kraals Yes it is Accessible Systems, Had it for probably 8-10 years. I picked up a used one also of another make, not near as good. I would buy another from Accessible if I find myself in the market and I was 10-20 years younger!

I think you did an excellent job of answering the inevitable flood of questions about what you used where. By showing the product and then where you used it and I like the music, good job on both the video and an amazing job on the car. good luck to you.

Hello, was that Eaton power steering pump the original one to that car? I've only seen 3 other cars with that setup with AC as they should of had the remote reservoir attached to the fender apron. I believe my car would have had that setup as it was built 10/29/64.

Valentino1215... Did you ever figure out how to mount the Eaton pump with the AC? I have a 65 Coupe and cannot for the life of me figure what brackets were used to mount the pump under the AC compressor.

Yes I finally found a set of those brackets I needed. I had a want ad on this forum below. They hard to find: www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=12755.msg77490#msg77490

I had two of these 2+2's back in the 70's. One was a GT with the fog lights in the grill and tack an clock pod mounted on the steering wheel shaft. Oh I wish id have kept them. Along with those stangs I had a 1975 Mercury Montego Gt with the 351 Cobra Jet...yup dont have have that any more either.

Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (BWV 565) is a rather unusual musical accompaniment for such a video....

Ford phased out 64 1/2 parts as they ran out of stock. I had an August 64 fastback that had all the 64 1/2 parts on it including hood and headlight buckets. There was actually more differences between the 64 1/2 and 65 than there was between the 65 and 66

Very nice. I just purchased a 66 Fastback. It is a very rusted out car. I will refer back to this video during my restoration. Any tips on how to brace the car to make sure the inner structure stays as straight as possible?

Great looking car, you might want to fix the flag on your shop wall though. It's hanging backwards, union jake should always be on the left side when hung like that.

If anyone could share what brackets are used to mount an Eaton pump under the AC compressor, I would be grateful.

I go to many sites to compare and figure out what is correct for a restoration and how to go about getting the job done. That is why I put the restoration videos on RU-vid so others can get ideas.

Incredible job, obvious talent, beautiful car. But it would be a much better video with a human voice over and without the music.

I wanted to have Jody tell the adventures he had with this car when he was a kid but he was always to busy. I might try him again and see if I can get him to do it. Thanks I forgot about my original idea for this video.

I thought that the 1964 built 65 Stangs used the generator until the Alternator replaced it.
@RestorerMatt
@RestorerMatt 10 лет назад
I am not sure of the change date from generator to alternator.They did not build any Fastbacks until Sept 64 and believe the gen/alt change was before then. I know things like the floor pans are not the same on fastbacks made only a few days later when they changed the exhaust system and the front cross member of this one still had the holes for the low mount horns but came with the horns mounted towards the top of the radiator. Jody bought this from the original owner who was a customer at his fathers garage in the early 70's when he was 14 and knows far more then me about change dates.

August 1964 is when Ford switched all their passenger cars to alternators for the 1965 model year.
@garywood9525
@garywood9525 10 лет назад
Thanks, I had a 63 Tbird built in 62 with the VIN sequence for the #006030 car and it had the new Alternator as a Luxury car. But I think I did see a very late 62 bird with the alternator. Canada has a odd system where some cars are built in Oakville while the same model comes in from US plant. All the 1969 GTO Judge's from Oshawa's Pontiac Plant were the Carousel Red with black inside. My sister still has my 65 Stang I sold her in 1976 .
@05gtdriver
@05gtdriver 10 лет назад
***** For automotive use, an altenator is more efficient and can be spun much higher rpm-wise than a generator. There's other advantages as well, but I think the most important aspects are these two mentioned.
@garywood9525
@garywood9525 10 лет назад
Hmmmm, I know all about history of Generators and the new power demands put on cars where the 3-phase Alternator was created and the AC/DC rectifiers . My question was about the 1964 1/2 260/289 Stangs during the transition period . The generator was a real-Time power unit that ran the Wipers, headlights, radio and dash lights. During idle on a rainy night, the headlights were dimmer and the wipers slowed down, then during accelerations things went back to normal. The Alternator is not a charger for the battery, it produces high amperage output for accessories while it maintains and monitors the battery ( via voltage regulator) power . On an old car you can take the battery cable off while it is running because there is enough power from the alternator to supply the ignition coil . I've done it with my Volvo .
