Just recently acquired a 65 Amazon 2 days ago and have to do floor board doors etc. But she's complete and with brand new front and rear seats. Can't wait to get started
In the 60s and 70s I remember my brothers and I reversed engineered our way through Volvos, Saabs, Bugs, Corvairs. If only the Antioch Advertiser knew what damage they were causing. One brother was into his Volvo's and his twin was into his Saabs. I was Mr Corvair back then. Now I drive a 06 XC70. Them were the days.
Learned to drive in my dad’s 122s in Rhodesia. Volvo was a’65 got my license in’78 What a pleasure this vehicle was as a beginners hack right through to a daily ride. My dad eventually sold it and bought an old merc’ but the Volvo was my favorite. Polished that body till it shined …..!!!
I'll send your video to my aunt Ingrid 🤣🤣 as I'm sure she'll get a great kick out of it. I think I'll send it to her husband, her kids, her grand kids, plus other members of the family too. It won't in-volv to much 🤣🤣🤣
Mine was the same color and also a 2 door. Drove it from Clearwater Florida to Whitefield N.H. in the spring of 1974. Loved that car with that long stick shift. Cost me all of $400 at the time.
Congratulations! We keep our '65 'Olaf' in southern Colorado. It's a work in progress, but has taken us on many summer adventures throughout the west and midwest over the last 6 years. I'll look forward to following your progress.
Great garage find. I owned a Volvo amazon 122s Dane colour aswell just before I got into vws 16 years ago and it was like driving a tank . Good luck on the resto
Nice car :) handle the rubber mats with care, they are rare. You are right the wheel trims are original, and it also looks like you have a set of original Coco mats-'
@@Misunderstoodboygenius Mix Red spirit with vaseline (petrolatum) and soak them with the solution for a week or 2 - comes out like new. Any cracks can be mended before you treat them, using superglue, and a piece of tyre tube on the back ar reinforcement.
I am thinking of trying to get a 1967 volvo 122 running again is there anything you have seen that would make me change my mind on trying to get running and working again?
I have had at least 7 122’s. Some drivers and some parts cars. I think all of them could and did run. The main things when starting an old car is to make sure things are lubed. Is there oil or has the engine been dry for a while? Give the cylinders some oil, turn it over a bit and make sure you get oil pressure, and listen for any bad clunks. Then give it a go! You could make things worse but most of the time you’re going to have to take it apart anyway. I’ll drive this one all summer and redo the engine this winter.
@@Misunderstoodboygenius I am surprised that car still has the original tire, if you ever go to one of the car meets or Volvo club meets, that would be a great conversation piece, if you need any help regarding Ingrid,.David Bello he has a You Tube channel, he has 2 Amazon cars, one is Genevieve, and the other is Bruce, he restored both of them, plus he has made videos about restoring the Amazons, check him out
@@EnriqueLopez-hb5jn thanks. I’ve been in contact with David before. This is my 6th Amazon since 1986 so I’ve been through them a few times. 😄 I have owned 23 Volvos at last count.
