I owned 7 of these wonderful classics when I was younger....first was a 59 with a kinda troublesome B16...followed by 6 different 65's which all had the most amazing B18's.... incredible and very fun to drive peppy little machines.

@@EddieV19 the 5th one I had motor rebuilt from crankshaft out and they bored it to a B20...as I can imagine yours is it sure added a bunch of torque and higher speed range..... they'll go anywhere.....mileage never an issue with that 5 main bearing crank...Everytime I look at the few pictures I have I smile remembering the fun I had driving them....

My first car, 1960 PV544 with B16 engine and 6 volt electrical system. Got it for $15 from my uncle for a fail to surrender plate ticket.. It had 180K hard miles on it, thanks to my older cousins who beat the crap out of it. I pulled the engine in 1969, rebuilt it and bored it out 0.060" over, new timming gears, bearings, clutch, brakes, tires, ect. Plus my first paint job in Mom's driveway, go bless her. Drove it for 3 years and 70k + miles. Sold it to a friend who took it to college for 4 years. The only car on campus that would start when it was -30°f below 0 in up state NY. In 1978, with no parts to fix the wipers and pass inspection. It sat for a few years in his back yard, but still running. Good memories in that ride. In 1972 I bought a new Red 1800 E 2 door sport Volvo,with a 4 speed manual trany with electric/hydraulic overdrive for $4250.00 it was a great car but under powered. Put 100k miles on it and sold it for more than I paid for it. At the time i purchased it the new Volvo, I really wanted a 1972 911T Porsche, but that ride was $10K and out of my price range at that time. When I watched your story on RU-vid , I felt I had to tell mine, Thanks. Enjoy your Ride!

The PV444/PV544 ran from 1947 to 1965. Unlike US manufacturers, Volvo didn't waste money and resources on annual superficial 'fashion' updates, preferring instead to concentrate on improving safety, performance and reliability. Volvo was the first in the world to produce a '1 million mile' vehicle. US vehicles barely manage 100000 miles.

why don't you use spring washers with the carburetor nuts to stop them from coming loose?
@EddieV19
@EddieV19 Месяц назад
Not enough room for the washers

Loktite - if there's an unsolveable problem. If the intake manifold is able to shake the nuts loose - there IS a problem that needs immediate attention. BTW - I never had ANY such problems with my 1965 1800S B18B - 'daily driver' for some 10 years / 200000kms. What does this character DO to his vehicle?! 🤔 He doesn't even know what the distributor is called, so one can only imagine. SMH

I do know what it’s called I just had a brain fart which happens to everyone from time to time That’s why I also hate Volvo guys they only scold and don’t help. Corvette guys will help you no matter how dumb it may seem z Your such a douche bag

@@EddieV19 Well, aren't YOU a little daahhhling?! FYI - whilst I've NEVER been 'let down' (or abused in such a way) by any 'Volvo guy', I can assure you I'm not a 'Volvo guy'. I'm an auto enthusiast who, in my 70+ years, has owned and PERSONALLY restored several 'classic' cars - of many and varied breeds. By contrast, as evidenced by your 'inability' to resolve the 'problems' you experience, you clearly do not have the knowledge and / or skills necessary to effectively maintain a classic bicycle. SMH Read my comment again - with your eyes AND mind open - and you'll find I HAVE given you advice re your serious intake/exhaust manifold 'problem'. Without examining your vehicle I can't give you the precise solution. I can assure you, it's NOT a 'Volvo specific' problem.

@trueaussie9230 see just proves my point people don’t want to help the younger generation with old cars that are actually interested in the older cars. Which is why most folks drive boring cars because of people like you!!! I repair a lot of stuff myself, including semi trucks . I’m a trucker and I had to repair electrical and oil and coolant leaks in the road myself. In the freezing cold and the hot desert. I also can repair air leaks and not be in a DOT violation. Change a lot more stuff than oil . The nuts on my Volvo were either not tight enough or I need to change my engine mounts. My Volvo PV runs beautifully!!!

Dad bought a brand new 1958 P444 when we were young kids in elementary school in Los Angeles in the 1950s. Cool car, but paled in comparison in comfort and ride to our much nicer '54 Pontiac Star Chief that Dad traded in for the Volvo. Mom hated the Volvo because it was rudimentary, noisy and clunky.
