I was a 10 year old 5th grader and my family had season tickets for 4 every home game from the 1965 thru the 1970 seasons in the still standing Cotton Bowl one of the last few true bowl stadiums. The Cotton Bowl years were extra special as it was a mixture of all different people from different walks of life.
Brian wonderful time of life, 8yrs ole this time in 1966 the year out (falcons) were born, these games are classics great Cowboys club, everything so great in the day, thank you Billy
WOW absolutely awesome! For a minute I thought it was a game CUZZ the time length. Jethro Pugh and George Andrie in my opinion are Hof Snubs. Andries sack numbers are out and he was over looked. Pugh as well. Really appreciate all the work you do. I was born in 1969 didn't start watching until 1978 , collected cards MLB NFL NBA. And loved to study statistics and learned all the older players. Now that I'm retired and have free time ( Health Probs) I enjoy seeing in video all these older players I never seen before. I like pro football reference to look up players and spot Hall of Fame Snubs. The NFL is the Worst. So many OL, DL, KICKERS & PUNTERS THAT AREN'T IN. only 4 kickers and what one or two punters? Anyways love your channel always consistently putting things out. Total dedication and editing , Obviously a Fan doing what you love and doing it well. That's a big part of life's happiness. And in these trying times Next to The Bible it's a Great Comfort and Positive Distraction for alot of older folks. Yikes I'm older folks 😵💫 Nah I might be 53 but I think the foreign legion would still take me if I could manage 10 pushups Lol. Nevermind I just looked Scrap that idea 40 yrs is there age limit. Damn I'm old folks 🤣
This could have been even LONGER! all NFL Game of the Week films exist for the 1966 Cowboys. There is also the outstanding recreation of the playoff game vs the Packers as well as the GOW. I am glad we are all enjoying these programs!
@@romelovesdan Yeah good stuff. I think the biggest blessing I got from it all was seeing Hof DB #20 Mel Renfro Running the Ball and Catching Passes. I never knew he got some time in that way. An early Deon Sanders so to say. All the 60's & 70's are new to me as far as watching is concerned. I used to collect cards and I know alot of the players but it's neat to actually see them play. My favorite thing to pass time is look up pro football reference and check the rosters and stats and check to learn new players I never heard of that was good. So I like to hunt for HOF SNUB Players. UNDERATED etc. It's what I used to do when younger collecting cards I'd research stats and find out who the 1,000 yrd rushers we're etc. Better than robbing banks right? 😋. Wait 🤔 Nah better not Lol
There is a 2020 Landry Center tribute video on YT where Renfroe, Harris, and D. Pearson mention Renfroe as a half back for a short time. He won the 1971 Pro Bowl MVP too.
I can remember how teams like the Cowboys 🤠 and the Vikings were really big rivals during the 70s . And I think that it is so cool 😎 to watch ⌚️ them play ▶️ each other during the mid 1960s when I was born . I have to say that these teams looked the way they looked in the 1970s and Fran Tarkington ....I think that is the way you spell his name , well anyway it truly is something to see 👀 😉 😏 😊 😄 ❤.......Bill Zeedicks .
It was about this time that Cowboys owner Clint Murchison, Jr., felt that the Cotton Bowl area of the city (Fair Park) had become unsafe and did not want his season ticket holders to be forced to go through it. However, the city of Dallas refused his attempts at building a new stadium downtown. So Murchison struck a deal with the city of Irvine (in the NW part of Dallas) to build Texas Stadium which ultimately opened in 1971.
Quarterback Earl Morral would go to the Colts and be responsible for the Colts victory in Super Bowl V after relieving Unitas in the second half. He was responsible for the majority of victories during the regular season in 1972 when the Dolphins went undefeated.
2:11 the man who likely popularized the football spike, Homer Jones. In this game, the Cowboys' uniforms lack their usual serif numerals; also, three striped sleeves are displayed opposed to their common two stripes. Asides from the "TV" numerals on top of the shoulder pads, Dallas wore practically a blue version of the 49ers' uniform of this era for this home game vs the Giants.
Homer Jones I felt had his career been longer would have been one of the best recievers ever. Look at his numbers he was insane. Some say he was faster than Bob Hayes. What a talent.
0:08 George Andrie Hof Snub Sack on Earl Morall 1:30 ** Rare Sight Hall of Fame DB Mel Renfro On a Good Run! ** 56:50 Rare Sight Hof Mel Renfro On a Pass catch 2:00 Earl Morall to the Great Homer Jones. To bad his career was cut short ( Jones for X4 YRS he was HOF talent) 2:16 Bullet Bob Hayes Great Play ( 1966 was his best year in production) 64 rec 1,242 13 TDS in 14 Games 2:40 Another Good Run by HOF DB Mel Renfro #20 2:50 Coach Dan Reeves Great RAC 50 YRDS from Future Announcer "Dandy"Don Meredith. 🎶 Turn out the lights the parties over 🎶😁 3:12 HOF Bob Lilly Sack On Earl Morall 3:55 Great Catch & RAC Mel Renfro! 4:40 Dan Reeves another big Catch & RAC 48 yrds 5:03 Reeves TD then 13 yrd run. Big game so far for Reeves 5:38 Bullet Bob Hayes again a great Pass and Catch 5:58 Reeves 16 yrs run 6:33 Bob Hayes Nice play 6:48 Bob Hayes Nice catch 7:08 Again Meredith to Reeves TD What a Game for both. Meredith was over 350 YRDS and 5 TDS this game (Don Mahomes lol) 7:25 George Andrie Hof Snub Sack again #2 7:38 Baby Craig Morton in 1966! 7:58 Cornell Green Cowboys int another Hof Snub on the Cowboys. *** Love it could do this all day*** 💪❤️🏈💪
I don't miss the clotheslining and the brutal hits but I sure miss these beautiful unis and grass fields. The only team with a terrible uni was the Eagles. Those stripes are awful! But at least they are actually green.
Sir Francis vs Dandy Don. Two scrambling QBs in the same game? A bit unusual then but a common occurrence these years. This was the final year of Fran Tarkenton's first tour in Minnesota before becoming a NY Giant.
@@anthonybrooks5040 Good observation. It's weird Tarkenton Started with Vikings then Giants then back again . I don't think a QB has ever done that before and go to all those Super Bowls. The more I watch him play the more I appreciate his play. I only knew him from his Cards and stats as a kid. Thnx to these you tube channels who Upload this stuff I finally get to see some real clips and games. Fun Retirement Hobby. And Joe Kapp is pretty cool too
@@stevereber right all the way Steve, including Joe Kapp. I met Kapp when I was eighteen. He was HC at Cal Berkeley when he came to my neighborhood to (successfully) recruit my neighbor. He saw us kids in the street tossing the football. He got out of his car and offered to throw some passes to us. I knew who he was right away. WOW! From that moment to now, I can proudly say that I caught a pass from a Super Bowl (IV) QB.
@@anthonybrooks5040 What a Great Story 👍. The last year I been watching more Classic NFL videos researching For Hof Snubs and names of players I had cards of and had heard of but never seen play. And Kapp I had heard of and had an early 70's card for but had never seen play. And he's one of my favorites of the obscure names I wasn't sure about. My biggest thing I liked was his rugged toughness and running style. And accurate throwing motion. And his x7 TD game against the Defending Champs Colts Defense is one of the all time great games in NFL HISTORY. Congrats on the Memory 💪 I was Born in 1969 started watching faithfully in 1978. So everything prior is new to me
@@stevereber Joe Kapp also spent a healthy amount of time in front of the camera. He was in numerous TV shows and movies. I remember him most in the original "The Longest Yard" starring Burt Reynolds. Kapp played QB on the prison guards team.
Landry, was allowed to much freedom, stayed too long! Game passed this guy up! No one should be allowed 30 years coaching anything! And he wasn't the nicest guy to play for!
Hi Sherry Good observation , Tom Landry is sorely missed. His style was old Skool and demanded discipline and character. Today's NFL is yeah. It's still fun to watch if you can tune out the rest of the political bs . And focus on the competition and human elements. There's still some good in the game unfortunately it's being hi jacked in more ways than one. Big Money is where it begins. But I'm a fan old & new but it's frusterating . Cool to see a female fan 💪💃🏼💪. If your a Landry fan there's a clip of his one & only TD Pass. What part of Texas you from?
@@sherryhannah9262 Yes Mam I never visited but I believe I drove just North of the Downtown area one time. I hear it has a Beautiful Historic District and Quite a History. Oil etc. I take it your a big Cowboys fan. Me too. I began watching football when I was 9 Yrs old in 1978. I was a Steelers fan and Dad a Cowboy fan. They both ended up in the Super Bowl and My team won X2 yrs in a row. However I think in 1980 or 81 I became a Cowboys fan , Tony Dorsett was my favorite Running Back a few years until WALTER PAYTON and Then the 49ers after the catch caught my attention. I loved the Cowboys Thru 1990-196. Emmitt Smith Michael Irvin Aikman , Sanders Yrs. Liked the Romo yrs. Begining to Like the Prescott Cowboy yrs , Altho I'm disappointed in Zeke. I could run behind that Line what's his excuses? I think he got off field distractions or something. I'm from Las Vegas altho I've lived In Florida & Alabama for yrs. GA & TN as well I love the South. Anyways you can always comment on my channel on my Miniature horse video. I got one vid I uploaded for that purpose if you want. Be Blessed I see you already are if your a cowboy fan 💪🏈💪. Oh and Sherry since your a Cowboys fan I do have Emmitt Smith ,Roger Staubach , & Cowboys from 1992-1995 But not tryna deter from this Awesome Channel here.
