Today we take a look at a 1966 second year food packet survival general purpose. Thanks to Steve1989 I had the chance to try this one out. Eating 52 year old cheese haha.

Awesome amigo. I hope you are doing as well as can be. I miss our B.S. sessions! Life always gets in the way friend. Packaging, inside and out , held up well. Potato and cheese bar? Definitely different. For the age of the items, all held up quite well. Vintage rations, we accept what survives, and, expect collateral damage. You always end up, with interesting items. FatmanWithAFatman Well in this case he originally bought them from me. I had the hot weather kit this ration and his 1965 cane from.

I ate 80 percent of the ration or so. I just didn't finish the chicken soup, or the fudge bar. I finished the 2 cornflakes bars, the poo tay toe and cheese bar, and the coffee and sugar.

It's easily 10x worse than the vomelet but I think they are talking about when fresh. I'd love to find one of these that's been frozen to find out what the fudge bar was really like when fresh.

@@Oldsmokey1 I'm sure it would be way better fresh. Cold definitely seems to bring out the flavor in chocolate. With any luck there is still a bar out there in better condition. The world's a big place.

The fact that it is 52 years old and is even close to eatable just shows you that our military contractors really do look out for our service members.

This thing was stored very, very well. But yeah I agree they do their best with things like the fpsgp. Now there's life raft/abandoned aircraft rations from the 80s and 90s that they definitely could have done better with. I should have added one to this review.

I have that same dated ration in my collection I had no idea they had a potato cheese bar. I ate a lot of those rations in the 1980s and 90s as a survival instructor. The cornflake bars ground up and boiled into a gruel are the best way to eat them.

@@Oldsmokey1 Yes, and if you want to do it survival style take the can and open it as you did in this video so the key is on top (if the key is on the bottom the hole that is filled with tin will melt out and you will have a leak in your can) and use wire to lash the lid to a stick so that you end up with a handled pot. All student when I taught at the Air Force survival school had to improvise a cooking container out of the can. You will truly rock if you do it this way!

I definitely would have but that chicken broth wasn't safe I don't think. I wish it would have been. I've eaten bullioun that looked 10x worse than this but this one wouldn't mix up.

I didn't get the notification until after the Premier was over. I have only managed to catch one premier and that was because the person shared the watch page before the premier so I had it open waiting. Awesome review and ration thanks

It was an experiment basically. Kinda like the life streams have been. I'm just now feeling comfortable streaming. I'll try to share the link somehow next time. But if you don't get the notification it won't matter. This video was short too so that didn't help.

Kinda had that old book paper smell going on. I was truly excited about opening this one. I've wanted a hoped for the cheese bar ever since I seen Steve got one in the 65. I had no idea that 65 fpsgp was in that kit when i sold it to him. But I'm glad he got to review it rather than someone else. I've had this thing for like a year and I've wanted to review it forever.

Wow what an awesome old ration Oldsmokey lol, seems like it was still about 95% edible after 52 years lol. That weird old fudge bar, I think you could probably use it as axle grease lol, put right in with the rest of the axle grease in an old M60 Patton tank it’d hardly notice the difference lol.
