I find it almost impossible for me to not want this particular car, myself. It had plenty of power with the base 315 horsepower 390. But that 428 with 345-HP and 462 ft/lbs is even better. And the '66 T-Birds had an indestructible transmission (every bit as strong as GM's Turbo 400) called the C-6. It'll get you cruising at 80+ mph all day on an interstate.
Can anyone suggest how we might research a 66 T-Bird back to the original new car sale? The oldest receipt and motor vehicle inspection was 1998. It was sold as a used car. The VIN is non-standard on that car and we have had no luck working through MVA, CarFox or Kelly Blue Book. Any suggestions gratefully accepted and appreciated.
Agreed. The '66's are nice T-Birds. Ford cheapened the '66's hood and front end (grill, headlamps, bumper) at the expense of making the interior more luxurious than the '64 or '65's.
Totally disagree. The '66 front end was completely redesigned, imparting a lighter and far more sporty appearance than the two previous years. Ford stylist David Ash was mostly responsible for the new for '66 front end design. It was by far the best looking of that 3-year generation. I'd lose the rear fender shields on this car to give it a more sporty appearance which Ford was promoting on the T-bird for '66. The Honeydew Yellow with black vinyl top and interior was stunning. The 428 is an added bonus for sure. @@charlestesoro7902
