Steve to ask a question in the hope that you will answer me. I built a pair of speakers, I used the 100w 8ohm buffer, the 100 8ohm midi and the 25w 8ohm tweeter. because the tweeters cannot be heard or they are heard very quietly. the 8ohm 3-way crossover. do I have to change the 25 tweeters for a 100 cp tweeter and the other components?
Ha! I have that same Herb Alpert album and most, if not all, of his others that I scooped up for just a dollar or two over the years, but I've never given that album a proper listen, so I need to rectify that. :)
@@bertroost1675, yes, and as I'm sure you know, the "A" in A&M Records is for "Alpert" since Herb Alpert was the co-founder of that record label (with Jerry Moss being the "M" as the other co-founder). Yes, Herb Alpert is a man of many talents and luckily, he's still with us at the age of 88 now. :)
I'm originally from Chicago, so I love me some Sears And Roebucks stuff! But the other consoles you refurbished just looked and sounded more sophisticated! But hey what does an Irish Kid from the Southside, Bridgeport know??
There should be a cottage industry taking old TUBE console stereos with magnetic phono inputs and replacing the old turntables putting in 200 dollar or better modern turntables. If you really want to go whole hog you could improve the crossovers and or update the internal speakers. There is company in the San Diego area that sells brand new consoles with decent modern electronics starting at around 4 grand. Refurbing clean old ones is a no brainer - especially for folks who are into mid century design.
