That is exactly what I did to my Plymouth Scamp. Some idiot drilled holes in a cherry mint dash pad and mounted a tack on top of the dash. I got lucky when I filled the holes with some black rubber putty that matched the color of the dash pad perfectly. I forgot the brand name of the tach that I installed in the cluster, but it looked as good as factory tach would have. I love those A bodies !!!
I hate that crap man, like I said in the video, if that gauges can't be made to look like they are supposed to be there, don't install them. I am glad you were able to fix your dash pad
Nice little vid Jed...I enjoy seeing how folk get around little problems like mounting that...building cars there 100s of little jobs that just need a little thought, and maybe some trial and error to overcome...keep em coming mate, stay warm....we are in Summer down here but its mysteriously mild...#mopar4lyf
Nice cluster for the duster Jed 👍 . You probably already know this but oreallys in the autobody section there is a sqeeze bottle of McGuires polishing glaze compound for clear coats on paint cleans up and polishes clear plastic really nice like the insturment cluster covers and can be used to clean up and polish the plastic head lights on newer vehicles 😎🤘
My thought would have been to cut the back off the round cap just below the top of the bolts . Then put a piece of aluminum across and use nuts. Still would have had to notch the aluminum for the wires.
Those damn A-body rallye dashes are getting hard to come by. The clusters are all over but the dash frame's can't hardly be found. I have 3 A-body rallye dashes sitting in my garage I just started buying them anytime I can find them.
Yep that did work out great looks so good. Wonder what the solution is for the speedometer? And the full gauges do they work? I wonder if the plastic glass will clean up? Can you polish that plastic with semi chrome polish or toothpaste?
What's keeping the tach from sinking deeper into the cluster assy? I see how the back mount keeps it from pulling out from the front but how is it holding the depth? It looks great by the way! It looks factory besides the "autometer" that you said you were blacking out.
Just have a question for you the if the red and black wire on the back of the cluster are off but still touching together what will that all stop from working?
Hey Jed the Great! How about this brainstorm... Since you didn't adopt the name "Tubster", that I suggested for your Duster, here is a new idea. You know how people use the term, "cluster f*ck". You can call your Duster the "Cluster Duster", or just "Cluster". I usually charge $1000.00 to name a car for someone, so take advantage of me, because for you it's no charge, as in FREE FREE FREE!
My 70 Monaco has rectangle gauges and small square ones but no tach, I really would like to put a tach in... Do they make square tachs? 🤣 I know I'd pay attention more to the tack than the rectangle sonar speedometer I have. That needle bounces harder than a double D jogger on a summer day.
the crank is virtually the same between the 318 and 340, regardless spend the money and get everything balanced together. I might have a spare forged small block crank, I can look
@@ScottsSpeedShop you got a good deal on car.you won't find one for that unless it rotted out/wrecked.it's worth way more especially since its a 340 car.
