almost made the same mistake in building my 440 . didn't realize until after i installed the pistons that 2 of the rod caps were stamped with the wrong cylinder numbers . i noticed when i held up one of the heads to see if they matched the valve reliefs and sure enough had to swap 2 and 8 .
Wow how could someone muck that up That is one Huge and Expensive mistake! Feel Sorry for the guy that brought it. 😪 Very Good that you pointed this out to Help others not to make the same mistake.👍😉
I think that whole motor should be taken apart. 4:58 Look how filled up that water jacket passage is. It looks like whoever put that engine together didn’t bother to boil out the block. What else did they neglect?
Yup your buddy got his goose cooked on that purchase , that engine rebuild and head fix ,is GUNNA cost a couple of thousand I'm sure ,and in top of that I didn't see the other side of the block but ,I know his Gunn's have buy at least one new piston for number one and possible seven , and he needs his can shaft and crank shaft lobs to be checked for those exsaust ports on all the pistons that were wrong to see if they were dameged or over stressed on the startup that caused the previous damage!! I tell you what who ever I bought that car would get a call that he might not want and his social media and internet profile would get major warnings and a run through out of the lie that was told and a stern warnings for any future BUISNESS dealings with that guy,, he's the kind of person that gives good ppl in the car community a bad rep!!!!
Yep, he definitely handled this much better than I would have. I see things like this and it makes me wonder how some people lay down and sleep at night.
