Here's a 1967 King of Diamonds pinball machine that has been freshly resurrected from years of dormancy.
This game is a collectible and sought-after title and is generally considered a classic example of Gottlieb ingenuity.
King of Diamonds has that excellent combination of easy-to-understand-but-very-challenging rules, rewarding gameplay and excellent artwork.
Spotting numbers 2 through 9 lights the rollovers alternately for special. Hitting 2 through Ace scores a special and lights the 10 through Ace in a roving fashin for continuous specials. The roto unit in the middle of the playfield and the backbox card animation make for some pretty neat visuals during gameplay.
This machine was designed by Ed Krynski with artwork by Art Stenholm.

The greatest pinball machine ever made in my opinion. This brings back such wonderful memories of 1970 "71" Noyo Bowling Alley put a ton of quarters in this one.

When the early ‘70s machines came out with the new flipper design, I lost interest in the older machines. But I agree this is one of the best of the “stubby flipper” era

i'm so glad you know that I didn't thumbs down your machine I just don't understand people on RU-vid that would come on a beautiful machine like this and give it a thumbs down what are you thinking this is complete history I love the old pinball machines from this time frame on to like late 70s I don't like when they get to the computer ones with the multi ball and all that stuff but this is just a beautiful machine great action too...... two thumbs up

wow, wow, wow, King of Diamonds was one of my favorite machines! Awesome, it was in our local duck pin bowling alley. I don't know why I looked this up, it's been about 54 years since I've seen this machine. It just made me very happy. Sign of misspent youth. I love it.

Had two of these. One was a practically new game. It was a private citizen purchase and had about 5,000 games in some dentists home. Tips: Always reset the dropped cards when doing anything in the back. Pulling down the composite wood portion with the cards down can and will break them. The other issue is that the carousel that spins horizontally tends to loosen up and the cards wander off the exact mark that they should have. The fix for that is to loosen the bolt that pinches against the pinion shaft, move the whole thing to where you want it, put a gob of paint or bluing on the tip of the bolt then remove it. There should be a dot of paint exactly where you should have the pinch bolt. Drill a hole in the carousel pivot and make it deep enough to allow a good purchase of the pinch bolt. Insert it into the pivot with loctite snug it down tight. Remember, loktite goes bad after a few years so use fresh product. The stickers for all of the cards are around and if you spot a set buy on sight.

My dad owned one of these. Those bells, man they sure do remind me of so much as a kid. Standing on a milk crate probably no older that 7 or 8 trying to become a "pinball wizard". Yes that was also the sound track too.LOL.. thanks! BTW I totally get the groan you made playing it with only one card left to drop! I totally remember this scenario .. So many times!

I remember playing this around 1969-70. Was such a hard machine o prevent from losing the ball down the side when aiming at the roto.

Same here my sister was a waitress I had an endless supply of quarters also this machine was so easy to keep the ball in play with the "The hit up method". This was my playstation for a yr or so in the very early 70's, was so disappointed when I ran down to the bowling alley after school one day and it was gone replaced with a newer machine. That's what is so great about the internet instead of something being lost forever you can type it in and relive your childhood when ever you want.

I wonder what other pinball machines share a name with a playing card. I know that there is a pinball machine named Queen of Hearts.
