I'm a big GTO fan from way back. I've owned 3; a '66, a '68, and a '67 like this one, in that order. I'm not an oficianado, but I know quite a good deal about these cars. I've read "The Big 'Little GTO' Book almost cover to cover and never knew the factory offered a 2 bbl. carb on any of the models. My memory isn't what it used to be, but that's a new one on me. On second thought, I may have remembered the 2 bbl. version offered for the 400 for '67. Congratulations on having a very, very, straight and sanitary car that looks show quality. 👌

Nice, there it is, the car that started the 60's muscle car craze and the horsepower wars. Simply awesome, plus the styling of those cars is timeless. Thanks for taking a look at it for us.

My first car after I got my license was a 1967 GTO with the 400 2v and a 4 speed. My color was Montreux Blue. I bought that one in 1976 when I was 16. It had Manual steering and Manual drum brakes. Never thought to look up the production numbers on those 2v cars, but I do know I hadn't seen another.

@ScooterLee-ei1ep
@ScooterLee-ei1ep 5 лет назад
@@raymondwagoner4896 it was for torque. Smh. Since 1962 Detroit started building muscle. Alot of times with just 2, 2 barrel carbs. People say the GTO was the first muscle car but forget of the 58 Impala, 57 Pontiacs, the early Thunderbirds. ALL of which made GREAT power with 2 barrels. Hell to to an NHRA national event. You see all kinds on cars in the stock division with a single 2 barrel making close to 500hp and turning 8500+rpm.

Great video Jeff. I've always been a car buff, but I never knew Pontiac had an engine option like this. I remember when the GTO came out, a mid-size car with a big V8. I think it came with a 389 4bbl and also it had a 3x2bbl option. TRi Power. My favorite was the 65 GTO I thought it was a beautiful car. Next was the 66, which I also liked. Your videos are great, they bring back memories. Take care Jeff.

I still have my 1967 GTO burgundy with burgundy interior 400 motor... on the floor it has the mystery shift or the his and her shifter.. I picked it up in 1977 and I paid $1,000 dollars I picked it up in pristine condition with very low mileage on it.. Barrett-Jackson really screwed up the car industry as far as prices I'm not selling mine but if I did I would probably ask less than $20,000 for it..Has 77,500 original miles it's always been kept in the garage I take it out on the weekends or to car shows that's it... I'd say mine looks exactly like the one in this video but a different color..😏😎💰

Woah, back the truck up. Did that say Power Front Disc Brakes on that option list? What you have there is rarer than you think. I had one exactly like that (except it was the 400 HP/TH400/Hurst Dual-Gate). I also had the Front Disc Brake package. I had a bleeder hole crack on the LF Caliper in 1978, and it took me for MONTHS to find one, and it was up in the rafters of an old Gas Station. At the time, it was reported to me that only 252 '67's came with that option.

Believe it or not,this was the standard engine option that year,like 255HP.Liken to a 283 in a '65 Stingray Vette,how absurd.If you wanted more than this,you had to pay for it.Probably a marketing trick,as none would want this standard fare.Shame on Pontiac for denigrating the badge like that.I had always thought the 335hp 400 was standard and 360hp RAIII was the optional engine.

There's nothing really unique about the transmission. The shifter just lets you manually shift if you want to. It is fun to manually shift them sometimes though, especially if you install a shift kit in the transmission.

@jhancock1575
@jhancock1575 4 года назад
The 389 was no longer available for 1967. The 400 was the new engine and there were several different engine horsepower options from 255hp to 360hp. The 2bbl 400 option seems strange but offering a lower power “economy” engine option was common for car makers even in the 60s. The GTO had mass market appeal and not everyone who wanted a GTO raced on the weekend. Some just wanted a sporty “daily driver” to get to work.

My '67 is the same exterior color, but original paint with the pin striping. White interior. 4bbl, 4-speed. All original 48k mile car, unrestored in great condition (not perfect). It's been sitting for 15 years but was running when I put it away. I'm going to refresh it and get it out this Spring. I doubt I'll sell it, but curious what asking price would be for something like this. Anyone?
@dalemarshall3279
@dalemarshall3279 7 лет назад
gman68137 not good sitting for 15 years, can get brake damage, brake fluid turns to sludge eating brake lines,+ can get confiscation in the heads causing valve damage, that's why you need to drive them once a week or drain all fluids to stop internal corrosion. It's possible everything could be all right, I sincerely hope for your sake. I've seen a lot of cars like yours and most of the time they had to be restored !!!

Not usual. I had a 1970 gto version of this engine in my neighborhood. I wanted to buy if for 1500, mom would let me get it despite I had saved up for it in the mid 80s. Guy was moving out of hood. next store neighbor got it, and he gave the engine to a shop. they gave him back a 301 Pontiac v8. I told him to go get his engine back.

Sadly due to the BABVVO laws from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(//=)(=)(=()
