Hey buddy, great job. You probably have seen a few of my '67-'72's in the "Wheeler Dealer" magazine over the past 41 years. Sold, bought and built over 400 trucks. Have done 28 total body-off's. They've been my life. If you want any contacts for rust -free stuff or building info. ring me ---everybody does!!!! Take care ---great vid!!! Jim from Iowa
I'm looking to get into a project like this and some advice on where to find some quality parts at a good price would be appreciated. Also do you recommend a certain truck to restore for part availability and price? Thanks
Hey buddy nice to talk. Yes I do have some advice. Of course I am a bit inclined to lean toward Chevy I would say definitely '67-'72 Chevy/GMC and only 4x4. The market (if you are watching e-bay and craigslist) is through the roof on these trucks. They have been my whole life, I love 'em , breath 'em and they are IT with me. But I will say to you what I tell my potential buyers " they're is no way in hell you can build one for what you can buy one from a guy like me" If I sell you a '72 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 for $17,500--- it would cost you at least double to build, just because number one I can resource new parts, possible sellers of used parts and know ways to cut cost corners you don't have the knowledge of yet. If you really want to do one yourself PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE -- START WITH A CLEAN SLATE---a rust-free truck from west of the Mississippi. I have several contacts from Washington State to Oregon, Arizona, and Montana who can find you a nice fair priced truck. Jacob you have a good plan , execute it right and you'll have something better than banked money!!! Thx. Take Care!! Jim
hey jim! im not sure if youll respond to this but im going to check out a 72 k1500 this coming monday! rust free frame and light body rust on the bed. Do you have any suggestions for parts locations? Im located in Colorado and wouldnt mind making a drive out of state either. I've been searching for an original bench seat for it for a bit. Guy im buying it off of put in a bench from an 08' silverado and while it looks comfortable, i want to turn it into a show truck/clean daily
@@Equinox121 Sorry just got your reply to me !!!!! If you still want an unbelievable beautiful bench I've got a line on two of them --one is brand new straight out of a prominent seat and upholstery shop in Oregon(green vinyl) and I have a light brown cloth bench in my wife's restored '72 Chevy 4x4 that we had done last year. Get back to me (selling out alot of cool parts) tow hooks, AM-FM Delco's, stock spicer hubs(blue dial), 45 years worth !!! Just type me in and call !!!!!!!!!!! take care !! Jim
Love the 68 grill with side markers. Beautiful truck, a lot of hard work and came out great, I'd rather have buult this than buy any new truck. This truck will outlive any new truck due to pure simplicity! Excellent restora!
my profilepic is bad and i cant change it i’m 15 and am going to start workin on my 1996 ford f-150 once I get a job here in about a month, pretty excited. How’s your progress so far?
Awesome job my grandma had one not four wheel drive I learned to drive in it taking lunch to the field at 11 years old still have the truck almost mint 70k for mileage need to find the time to restore it really enjoyed the video
I'm looking into restoring my 69 stepside, some idiot painted over rust and now about in the same shape as yours was. I'm just wondering how much money it ended up costing?
I'm 14 now and trying to purchase a 72 C10. Will have to repaint, lift and fix a few minor problems with it and itll be so rad! Loved your video by the way man!
Dang man I see theses 67-I think 73 k10s and damn when they’re done right they’re badass can’t beat old Chevys I’m gonna be restoring my dads 66 c10 here before to long it’s got factory air and all that nice stuff anyway glad you chose a long bed they look the best
Oh that’s such a beautiful truck..... I absolutely love that body style. I would trade my 80 k10 in a heart beat for the 60-72 body style..... preferably a factory 4wd but I’d settle for a 2wd. I am not a big fan of body lifts but the way this was done wasn’t using crappy hockey pucks but tabs welded in place of the mounts which my dad has always tough me to do it.... but I love those wheels and that stance and trust me, im the guy with 15” wheels and 33’s bc I love a fat tire....
Thanks. Trust me I absolutely hate the body lift. The previous owner did it and I wish I would’ve cut it off when I took apart the truck. Oh well though. That being said I’ve learned a lot since then and I can’t wait to tear it back apart and build it into what it really should be.
Terrific work!!! Hut off, how long it took You to get that amazing truck at that level ? definitely a learn expirience process. "Do it Your self don´t buy" Thats it.! best wishes all the best for future plans.
Did you use the original front and rear ends? We are using a 3\ton 8 hole 3:42 ratio from a 1985 Chevy it was 2 inches' wider than the 68 3/4-ton rear. 68 rear s are 4:56 ratio way to low. All so well need to drive the drive shaft from the 68.
What’s up with the body mounts on the frame? Is this the right frame for the truck or modified to fit that body? Not a criticism just a curiosity. It looks awesome and even more so when I read at the end and realize you are only 17! Got my first truck at 17, still got it today
Dude, this is the same year truck i have, it's been sitting 22 years, and I'm about to start restoring it. Do you have any tips that would help, I'm 17 rn too lol. Anything you did wrong that you could help me to not do wrong?
This was the first thing I ever did body work on and it shows. I didn’t watch any videos on how to do it properly, and I wish I had asked more questions to people that knew how. The second thing which may not apply to you is the frame my truck is on. It’s from a square body and is a couple inches longer wheelbase making that ugly gap in between the cab and bed. I should have found a factory frame to swap but I didn’t. Patience is important too. It takes time. Any questions you have along the way just asked and I’ll answer them the best I can.
Had 22x14 xd diesels on it with 35s. I now have 16.5x10 Steel wheels with 36s. I actually made the glovebox cover. It’s wood about 1/8 inch thick. I then traced a logo I found on google and used a wood burning tool to burn it in. I then just screwed it to the old glove box door.
Great job young fella! I’m going nuts on a ‘68 K20 right now. Trying to keep it stock-ish. Even putting the original steel rims on her, but I have a 454 under the hood... Stop by my channel and check out some of my work, and say hello! Love to hear from you. I just wish my videos were as well made as yours! Again, great job! 🇺🇸🏁
This would have been a much more interesting video if you would have talked to us and explained what you were doing, instead of just playing stupid music.
