1968 FORD CORTINA MK2 GT VIDEO 2 | MATHEWSONS CLASSIC CARS | 10TH & 11TH DECEMBER 

I once owned a 69 1600GT. The dash was black and mine, being a late one had the auxiliary instruments mounted like the car shown only the earlier ones had them on a raised pod. It also had two chrome stripes that ran across the rear over and under the number plate. I painted the gap semi matt black on mine. I also fitted 5.5 inch J section rims.

lovely 1975 = i had a gold 1965 GT Cortina - great car loved it - later i had a escort rs1600 = lotus - built a 240 1964 with a 3.5 alloy v8 and now have a subaru GT Forester turbo modified = best ever - it is Gold with Gold mags !

My first fast car in 1968, G.T. followed by a Lotus version...Would love to own it.....Nostalgia...

Cant be 68 or the clocks would be above the dash, only fitted below from 69/70 im sure

Drove number of this model when they were new back in the late 1960's I was on a Police Traffic department back then and they were always a popular car amongst officers. Early models had the 4 small clocks in a raised pod moulded into the centre of the dashboard, later models dropped down into the dash itself. 1600cc crossflow engine and a beautiful car to drive back then. The late 1600E was the same car but wooden dash, door trims and better upholstery. They now command ridiculous prices. But this one is no more than a bastardised version and worth what someone wants to pay for it.

That's a right bitsa but a lot of nice bits 👍 I've built a few bitsas on my time with no thought to resale, back in the 80s parts where cheap and easy to get, plenty of them in scrap yards back then just sitting about waiting to be stripped 👍

Back in the early eighties a buddy of mine transplanted a V6 into one.

Working with Vauxhall back in the day,the manta in the background is more my thing.

I thought the 1600e had the clocks in the centre of the dash and the gt had them on top of the dashboard

Had a '67 Cortina 1500 that was black from the factory. I've got brochures from the period and black was never an option so bit of a strange one. The first owner didn't specify the rot delete option unfortunately.

Nice but like they say bastardised thrown it in a completely diffrent category. Cant put a normal price on it as its what any one will pay who wants it Engine worth a bit on its own . Keep um coming Dave your all doing a Great job for the classic car enthusiast .

Lovely looking car with a sweet sounding motor. Those seats and gear knob would have to go though.

the gt cortina didn't have a wood dash and the lotus didn't either

Take the Cibie's off and oust the Recaro's, it will be miles better. Colour not to my taste either (is it Black Tulip?) but then I didn't like many of the Mk2 colours.
