I own this car. Let me tell you it’s a one car car show!! It has embarrassed every car it passes! Guys you gotta go to Vanguard Motors. The place and people are amazing. My rental car broke down 7 miles after I left the airport. Greg ( the guy in the videos) quickly came and picked me up on the side of the road. First class service!! I was so impressed I bought 2 cars that day!!
These people know what NICE CARS ARE!!! I’m not easily impressed with some builds, but these guys have really put a smile on my face. Beautiful and fast classic cars; what more could you want in a car.
I had a 1968 Mustang fastback, 428 Cobrajet, 4 speed, 4:88 Detroit locker rear diff. When i bought it, it had lived a hard life and was pretty much on its last legs mechanically. Body wasnt too bad, but i did have both floor pans and rocker panels and the left rear quarter panel all replaced with factory Ford replacements. I did all of the mechanical repairs myself, i got a Lunati forged crank kit, with forged steel crank, forged aluminum rods and forged aluminum .030 pistons. I balanced everything on a grahm scale after trimming all the excess weight i could, i put a custom ground full roller cam setup in it, aluminum heads, studded the main caps and heads installed windage trays etc, then topped it with a Banks underhood low profile super charger, and Banks throttle body fuel injection. I replaced the top loader 4 speed with a Borg-Warner Super T-10 4 speed and Zoom multi disc clutch, and explosion proof bell housing. I had a custom aluminum drive shaft made, and did a complete 4 wheel disc brake changeover, i put a whole new suspension setup, with coil spring 4 link rear diff, and a steering geometry setup that was designed for SCCA Trans Am series racing for 60s mustangs. I didnt build it to drag race with specifically, but it was a true 10 and a half second car when i eventually took it the Thunder Valley dragway in Bristol, Tennessee. But what i really built it in mind for was all the damn beeswarm Hondas and etc that were becoming more popular in the early 90s, i just tired of hearing all these young guys talking about how fast they could make their civics and Barrettas by putting a turbo charger on them, and how old guys like me just couldnt understand that there was no way an old 4200 lb V-8 car could stay with them, "You might win in the first 1/8th of a mile, but once my turbo builds boost, ill go by your V-8 like you hit reverse. It was more than i could tolerate. So my old 68 didnt take long to develope a reputation of being a V-tech killer, they couldnt touch it on the drag strip, they couldnt touch it on top end, and they couldnt touch it on the curvy and steep backroads that wind through the east Tennessee Appalachian mountains. I had a lot of guys speculate about what was under the hood, buf i would never open the hood to let them see, when asked i would say its just a little Small block Ford, if you really need to know, put 5 %100 bills in my hand and ill let you see whats under the hood. No takers of couse but i really enjoyed showing them theres no substitute for cubic inches, when you need raw horsepower!!!!
Love the cruel laugh when he pulls Lucy out on the road saying 'throwing my camera man around little bit !'...a real joy ride, love these Vanguard Mustang videos!! Go Greg!
Damn! Greg was too happy behind the wheel of that thing and Kermit was hardcore geeking out during the showing portion of the video! Great video, gentlemen!
I actually jumped a little (sound was turned up too loud in my earbuds I guess) @4:42 - wasn't expecting that - freaking awesome and gorgeous car! The perfect thing you need when wanting to go grab something from the grocery store. :)
An older build car...probably in the early '80s leaf spring suspension on a tubbed car hasn't been used in a LONG time. Same goes for stock front suspension...Beautiful car...great "Old School" Pro Street car...
but you wouldnt be afraid when you will be realizing that life is too short to be afraid..you will get up with a stubborn attitude upon realizing and you will do all the wild things you wanted to do always...trust me man!! live your life the way you want, get up now and do your thing in your life!
Are you crazy? Id be driving it as often as I could esp after spending that much! Hagerty ins is cheap for these. I paid 350 a yr for 40k coverage on my Camino. Cant beat that!
THese cars give you that crazy happy adrenalin boost you hear that greg has. not about hp, value or anything else. Love old iron. Same thrill today in my 50s as my first rs Camaro did when I got my 1st ride at 18,
That car is a absolute beast. How fucking cool is that big ass blower sticking outa that hood. No car on the road would have a chance against that monster .God I love it .
That mustang has made parts of my body twitch that I thought were asleep! A magnificent piece of automotive equipment. So would vanguard be interested in one of my children? Grandchildren? How about a couple hundred pounds of Alaskan smoked Salmon? I can just fantasize and I can bet that the cost of this vehicle would probably be about the same as a very small home!
That is Mustang is done up Beautiful, looks like a real quality job also !! Lol reminds me of an over the Top scaled up Hot Wheel !!! Nice Would love to know the 1/4 mile ET if he ever ran it at the Drags, boy I hope so ! : D
