That off delay ignition switch light is a nice feature. My 68 Fury has it. Thank you Chrysler engineers.

60's car like this valiant may be plain looking but it's a good practical car with proportioned design,fuel economy,driving visibility,fair handling,easy maintenance,etc ...

When I was in college in the early 80s I had a 68 Valiant Signet 2 door, olive green, manual steering, automatic transmission, 225 slant six. I paid $ 290 for it. Now over 40 years later it's still one of my favorite cars.

I owned, or drove a 64, 65,72, 76, and all were great dependable transportation - i used my 64, bought used for commuting over 80 miles a day - for 4 years - used it like a SUV!

Michael - My grandfather was the Mopar guy in the family. WAAAAAAY before my time, he told me about some he'd had; Desoto, '57 Dodge, '66 Plymouth Fury. Eventually, he moved to GM; probably due to my uncle's influence, but he always liked his old Mopars. Might be where I got it from... My first car was a $150 '72 Duster that I got inspectable by my 16th birthday, and had an '80 Mirada (shoulda kept!), and a beater '76 Town & Country ($400). I still like the old ones; better than the new ones, to be honest, with every brand... Almost forgot about my grandfather's youngest brother; had a '70 Fury III. Although a 4-door sedan, with just a little 318, I thought it was BEAUTIFUL; Jamaica Blue, I believe, with black vinyl top and interior.

Campbell Nutting, I don't know if you're kidding or whatever, but to have one, in its original glory would likely require a complete rotisserie job.

@@InsanityHere I just found a '68 Dart with just 80,000 miles. I paid $700 for it. It's a four-door in excellent condition. I'm doing a leisurely garage restoration. I estimate that it will cost about $6000 (including purchase price) when done. It won't be concours condition, but it won't be all that far from what is was when it came out of the factory.

That Valiant/Dart body style lasted the longest, with very few modifications, right up to 1976, when they were replaced by the Volaré and Aspen.

These Valiants were usually pretty plain, but they DID dress up well....... I'll take a 2-door Signet please, Turbine Bronze with white vinyl top, 318 V-8 w/air-conditioning, perhaps special order 15-inch wheels w/disc brakes, Oh yes, and the light package too.......

I wish Chrysler would take example from the motorcycle manufacturers, producing retro bikes here and there, and come up with the Doge Dart, Plym Valiant, once again, but completely original, not with any electronic crap. I love the old Mopar videos on here, where they go through, like a 60-67 model car, and explained how the mechanics did this or that.

Too bad there was no hardtop in the U.S. Valiant line. However Chrysler Mexico did offer a 1967-69 Valiant 2 door hardtop called the "Acapulco." It used the 2 door sedan body but lacked a B pillar and also featured a vinyl roof.

FRANK MACALUSO Hemi would've been too much engine for that car. OTOH a 340 would've been GREAT and should've been offered as an option with a standard 4-speed. Oh well.

Wow! It’s got backup lights and a dome light! Does it also come with a steering wheel and a drive train?
@josephjames259

Glenn Lego Not all cars had those features. My 68 Plymouth Fury doesn’t have a dome light but does have shoulder belts.
@Al-thecarhistorian
@Al-thecarhistorian 10 месяцев назад
Until 1967 or 1968, back up lights were an option on many cars. Dome lights were usually offered on higher trim levels, not on many base models. Just like arm rests or a right side sun visor. The younger generation of today takes too much for granted.
