It is amazing how simple the way the differential works, but how complicated it is to put it together. So many dry fits.... measuring, shims, moving shims around.... Well, see for yourself.

Hi Elin, Where do I begin? First of all I am super grateful to you for helping make my car look the way I had hoped it would. Your patience and imagination brings that special extra to the final look and performance, I'm blown away! A big thanks to Tush for all your help with the bumpers and support, I can't thank you enough for your guidance on the some of my thoughts and questions over the last year. The car runs so much better after the tune up on the scope and even my wife Melanie said the cars performance was noticeably better! Thank you again, you made Jolene a star! 🙂

I had a bunch of Spridgets back in the 80s and 90s... Your videos bring back so many memories. I loved fixing them and driving them. TR's were harder to find. ....You never know... love your relaxed approach!!🤙🤙🤙🇬🇧🏁🇬🇧

Hi Elin, what a lovely car that was and how fortunate he was to have the leak develop on your garage floor before it turned out into a major problem (..... I've been there before!!). Nice to see the comment from Jim down below. Great video, well done have a great weekend!!

I've been saving large pieces of cardboard that I use on the garage floor as a crawling pad. Cheftush is not the only "bigger" guy who needs more clearance. The advantage of the cardboard is it's a tattle tale for leaks and keeps my garage floor cleaner so I use less drying agent.

Wow, that 250 looks right off the showroom floor. Nice! My filter adapter is also leaking. Just bought the kit and need to install it, so good timing with watching you talk about the gasket! The owner dodged a bullet when you found the car marking it's territory. ;)

The missing pin from the boot lock handle should be a square rod with a slot in one side. The slot engages with the end of the barrel so the pin does not rest on the top of that rather is deliberately moved up and down. I can send the dimensions if you want? Would send a spare pin but it’d be a while before it got to Canada! It’s actually quite easy to make all the locks match, I just made my own video on the topic in fact (dunno if linking in comments is acceptable but I’ve not posted much so it wouldn’t be hard to find). The barrels will usually come out with a bit of oil/WD40 and some smacking of the handle on a block of wood, I’ve only once had to resort to a drill.

Hi Elin, - looks like that frame won’t be rusting away this year at least! 😊

That sure brings back memories! My TR4 was the same color, with similar driving lights, similar grill (actually 4A type, just because I preferred it), and a similar boot lid rack. I think I only ever used that rack once, while I was in college. I picked up my girlfriend from the airport in a winter snow storm and she had four large pieces of luggage! One went in the boot. One went on the rack. And the two largest went behind the seats, after we put the convertible top down! 35 miles in a Colorado January blizzard... At night... In a convertible... With the top down. Ah, foolish youth! Question... I watched on a small (phone) screen and couldn't tell for sure. Were the thin rubber gaskets under the boot hinges? Four pieces... Two under the larger lid side of the hinge, two under the smaller body side of the hinge? I don't think there was originally a gasket at the boot handle eustascion, but I added a thin rubber o-ring to keep water out.

.....The very first thing I noticed was ....There is no return spring on the clutch slave cylinder, without it the throw out bearing will keep in contact with the pressure plate 'forks'....After a while this will cause the throw-out bearing and/or the clutch disc springs to fail from excessive heat.....I know, I had this happen to me in my TR3A , which has the same set-up.....It's only a return spring, but it's very important as it physically pulls the release arm and bearing off the forks when the clutch is released.....

Thank you, I was not aware of that, I will add it to my new list of details to review!

that looks like a fuel vapor capture canister mounted near the radiator... I have one on my 74 midget that returns fuel vapors to the fuel tank.

I think that the o-ring / Gasket was made from the incorrect rubber compound. I’ve seen that happen that before that the compounding was wrong or the rubber didn’t vulcanize properly.

I was rather irritated after buying one of those weather strip clip fitting tools and finding out it was just a bent bit of metal! It required regular reshaping too when doing my Spitfire doors. I’ve got the straight section of mine wrapped in loom tape (hockey tape would do too) to stop the metal contacting the door glass.

Any idea where I can find the mounting brackets for the luggage rack? I found an original AMCO rack in good shape, but it’s missing the brackets.

Elin I love the look of the car but that front bumper looks awful. I hope Gene considers removing the badge bar completely so the bumper can sit snugly.

you have the mounting brackets on the wrong sides for the luggage rack

Hmm… I was following pictures I got from the owner. You might be right, but to me It actually makes more sense to be this way, because the notches of the mounting brackets are inside and the plate outside kind of finishes the whole hinge assembly.

I have a 63 tr4 with what looks like the same luggage rack and it fits well with the hinge brackets reversed so that the bolt support is on the inside. Love the chanel!
