Seeing Dan's humble demeanor gave me the first mixed emotion after watching this beautiful car. Losing a friend; getting a car. What a bitter sweet blessing. 😢 🙂🙏. As far as his friend, Terry, knew, he did own it forever. Count your blessings, Lou and All. 👍
What an amazing car.. And while it has an emotional story, still a great one. There is nothing that compares to the sound of an old school HEMI. Thank you for sharing Lou. Take care.
It's nice to know the original owner had the 500 and enjoyed it all those years and now a good friend will do the same. What a car, great story Lou, thank you.
Yeah Lou, another 'GRAND SLAM'! What a special time back in the day to go to nearest Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership and sit down with a salesman and start checking things off on the option sheet. Thanks for the smile with my morning coffee!
Dan's rare copper beauty is just fantastic! Seems you have a "precious metal" theme this week Lou. But then again, all your features meet that distinction! Thanks!
Another nice one from MCACN! I had to laugh that even the original owner's St. Bernards know a hemi is the only way to roll. Thanks for finding and sharing Dan & his '69 Charger with all of us, Lou!
I never owned a Charger but I still have my red 69 Hot Wheel looking back at me when I sit at my desk at home as a reminder that I need to. Thanks Lou....
I believe it used to be when a car manufacturer wanted to have a factory-built race car entered in stock class racing, they either had to build atleast 50(or maybe 500) examples which were sold to the public. This legitimized factory race cars. Interestingly, this car has a floor-shifted automatic. Most of these types of Mopars(including the Daytona/Superbird) had column-shifted automatics. The 4-speeds were ofcourse floor-mounted, but without consoles. If you see a Charger like this, it was a special-order car and was never meant to be raced. I'm surprised that it doesn't have factory air conditioning. Thank you for another of your great videos!
Really nice. Right away I noticed that front end and the slope of the back window I new this was a car I’ve never seen. I didn’t know this model 500 even existed but when he said how many were built it’s no wonder I never saw it. I love these old Mopars. Thank you for sharing this with us 👍👍
Hi Czech Mate, Happy to read this is a new one for you :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome. Good news! Here is one more for you to enjoy, Lou ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IWeejVOTKw0.html
I Got to know about this car via a gray with orange strips 1969 dodge charger 500 hotwheels. Sadly lost that one, later on got the purple 69 dodge charger 500 with hemi hotwheels just a few days. Really beautiful. Metalflake purple. Real glossy and charming. And seeing the real one, made my day.

I remember when these were new and in my infinite 11 year old wisdom I thought Dodge ruined the looks of the Charger. What I wouldn't do for one now! Thanks for doing the exhaust rev portion of the video even though MCACN is indoors. It's my favorite part of your videos!
Hi Classic Muscle Car Exhaust, Cars have an amazing way of looking better with age. Happy to read you enjoy the engine rev :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
Vuuuury cool. My first car was a '68 Charger (hideaway headlights, round taillights) 383 Magnum. I never got to drive that car though... Although the body and interior was minty- the previous owner had started to tear the engine apart and abandoned it. We towed it to our repair shop and within a few hours a customer came in and offered me some stupid money for it. I took the cash and bought a 350 Nova and made some bank. My mom liked the Charger so much that she went and bought a '69 shortly after that. Then 'The Dukes of Hazard' became a hit and you couldn't find them anymore.
I was surprised to see this 1969 Mopar equipped with a Torqueflite automatic transmission rather than a manual 4-speed by its "bare bones" exterior. The Copper paint job looks spectacular, along with the matching rims and hub caps. That 426 Hemi sounded healthy, and now that winter is here, your back in indoor venues filming your videos, so no rides for awhile.
Oh YEAH!!! As a one time owner of a '69 in the late '70s, (almost the same color, 383 M, 727, SG) I knew about the 500 but only read about them. Never saw one but love this offering. Nice work, Lou and congrats to the owner. Seen a few vids here ;) The story behind this car is one of the best !
Espectacular modelo Dodge Charger 1969! La verdad que ese bronce metálico le asienta muy bien! Otra vez, como la vez pasada, valió la pena que se apagara el motor, porque cuando lo volvió a encender se pudo apreciar todo ese poderoso estruendo! Jaja. ¡Excelente video Lou!
Mopar did this to fight the Ford Torino Talladega on the speedways. When it didn't work, they went for more aerodynamics, and from the 500 the Daytona was born. Charger 500 - mild Charger Daytona - wild. Superbird: the name sez it all.
Goodday Lou, What a great video, my all time favorite Charger. 1969 Charger 500 with the almighty 426 Hemi & what a awesome exhaust note at idle. Love it everytime you say " You can put the baby to sleep with that. " You need to print a T Shirt with that saying. As you may be aware a gentleman & now a good friend too Eugene Clark is a owner & a original owner of a Charger 500 that has been fully restored over the last 2 years & abit on Nick's Garage which is on youtube. I believe Eugene's Charger 500 may get an invitation to next years MCACN & I hope if all goes well you csn feature it on your channel. Can't miss it it is a beautiful yellow one. This gorgeous gorgeous Bronze is just stunning from every angle & you captured it beautiful as always a great interview too. Thank you for showing us these beautiful muscle cars. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
Goodday Louis, Happy to read this is your favorite Charger! NICE! I'll keep an eye out for the Yellow Charger 500 for next year. Thank you for the tip, and thanks for being my # 1 Fan in Australia, Lou
An even easier way to tell the production date is that head restraints were not required by law until January 1, 1969. Ford, AMC and GM built all their 1969 production with head restraints. Obviously this one was built prior to January 1, 1969.
Big fan of the 500 but always found it funny that the Charger was the only Mopar muscle car that didn't offer any kind of fresh air induction until the 71 model year

Spectacular Charger - thank you so much Lou! Your videos always make my day. This a Charger is very cool, love the colour and detailing. Great back story.
Hey hey Lou! I'm sure you were wondering what happened to me. Well, I spent several weeks combing the Arizona deserts tracking down a rumored abandoned Costabile GT with the rare Corinthian Leather option. But to no avail. Better luck next time, I guess.
bronze and root beer brown was the colors the mfg put out but the car lots called them hang around brown and usally they would run the super holiday sale to move them but this is a nice one
Super cool! You know, I believe I saw that blue and white Superbird in a car magazine about 30 years ago. You didn't happen to do a video of it, did you?
Obviously a 69' Charger is desirable and this one is wonderful. I'm going to comment on kind of an off-topic matter: I have a thing for cars with 4 round headlights, sure some of them are only what a mother could love, but most/many are just attractive, I assume it's something that must be imprented from the cars in our childhood.
@@loucostabile There was one 1969 Charger non R/T and not a 500 with a hemi produced. I have pictures of it in an old repair manual I realized it when the car turned up in a magazine or the web I can't remember. It has hemi badges on the doors and wheel covers.
Good morning Lou, thanks for bringing us a 69 Charger 500 and with a Hemi very cool, I always liked that rear window and Coronet grill, awesome color 😀!!!
