At about 15 seconds into this video there's a sign strung across 2 buildings that says, "Chiefs World Champs." My Dad made that sign. He was working downtown at the time. My husband happened to find this video on RU-vid tonight. I knew about the sign and have another video showing the sign that was recorded onto a disk from TV years ago, but had no idea it was on RU-vid. Wish Dad was alive to see this video and of course the Chiefs win this past Sunday. GO CHIEFS!
I wasn't even born yet when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl the first time, so it's fun to see the old clips and especially Dad's sign. Thanks for posting this!
@@G0Chiefs Hey, Man. First of all, congrats on your material, as it's been really helpful in filling some historical voids. And on that note, you think that it'd be possible to use some clips of it for educational, researching and custome purposes -mainly about the Chiefs? It'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@@G0Chiefs My Man, thank you very much and I'll make sure to give it good use. One thing though: Is there any highlight or a game that you might in turn be looking to watch? I ask because if there's something you might be longing to see that I should have in my archives I'd be glad to share it as well. So please, let me know. Thanks again.
I watch the Chiefs in the 70's and attended many games. Mark Bailey,RB, would often give me his wrist bands & elbow pads after the game. I wore that to school on Monday...such a thrill.
Donald Jackson Mr. Jackson I’ve been a Chief’s fan for 30 year’s! I thank you, for sharing such a vivid memory, for those of us that might be a little younger than yourself,
Donald Jackson I was trying to say thank you very much Mr. Jackson, thank you very much, for sharing such a vivid memory, not only for those of us that might be a little younger than yourself, but especially for those who’ve greatly missed out, on learning about such awesome life experience’s as your own, if we weren’t there, we didn’t Google it. We would ask around to find out if someone had been to this game, or that event, & when we had found someone
Chiefs are going to win the super bowl it is in bag , no won can beat us . Easy money vs. The pats it is ours . Chiefs will be afc champions. Easy potatoes. Let's give is our trophy . Go chiefs go.
The '69 Chiefs were great, especially that defense, but calling them the "undisputed team of the 70s" in this video proved to be horrifically premature.
at 10:26 during the pre-game introductions of the Chiefs prior to their home game against the Raiders there were many men/woman on the field in red jackets cheering the Chiefs--according to Len Dawson each person there had sold a certain number of season tickets and were awarded red Chief logo jackets and the chance to cheer the team on to the field for each home game
At the beginning during the parade when he introduced the greatest quarterback in professional football I thought Patrick Mahomes was going to pop out 😂😂😂love Lenny the cool though
I'll never forget that Mike Battle fumble...The Jets had fought for one more shot and the fool let the ball go right through his arms....I was so mad that day
The "Remember Oakland 41-6" banner (10:55)-referred to a sudden death playoff game the Chiefs lost to the Raiders the season before--interestingly the Chiefs and Raiders finished with identical 12-2 records and they played each other twice in the regular season--with the Chiefs winning the first game at home (24-10) and the Raiders two weeks later winning at home 38-24---which meant they had each scored and given up the same number of points (48)--the AFL decided the only way to settle this to decide who would go on to play the Jets in the 1968 AFL championship was to have a sudden death playoff game-Kansas City was completely overwhelmed in that game--the fans at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City were hoping this banner would motivate the Chiefs in this critical game---in the end it didn't
@@kingbee1500, that was the SUPER BOWL IV HIGHLITE PACKAGE..not this yearbook narrated by soon after to be the new kid in town in DALLAS, during the early seventies, TOM HEDRICK.who then went back to the midwest after a stint with ABC 's WIDE WORLD of SPORTS, and announced KANSAS JAYHAWK SPORTS FOR decades, before becoming a professor at his BAKER U. undergrad alma mater in his native KANSAS. He retired after calling BAKER homegames the past few years, calling it quits after a 62 year career. He was honored by the KANSAS legislature for his great work. From one old mic.guy to another- Congrats, TOM. LOL, I watched you and ROGER TWIBELL, AND VERNE LUNDQUIST, do the sports anchoring for the three DALLAS TV STATIONS the year I lived in Tyler when I was a high schooler.. Again, Congrats ON A GREAT CAREER...
@@petrofor3430, you don't fix your D you aint repeating, and your dynasty status is in question, too.. Hailey's comet= appears every 87 years, and HALEY'S M.O. oldtime o.t.c. stomach elixir/coater like Pepto..M.O. = modus operandi or HALEY's MAGNESIUM OXIDE..now do you get it?
@@petrofor3430, your defense was 17th..mediocre. In the playoffs you set a record for most points given up by SBOWL winner playing three rounds=75.. KYLE Shanahan once again as he did as o- coordinator with SB LI ATL, blew the clock by not running the ball, yardage, or not..ITS THE CLOCK AND FORCED OPPOSIT. TIMEOUTS, KYLE/DUMMY! He has blown two SBOWLS..literally.. ANYWAY.. You aint repeatin KC..if that D is not fixed.. UNITED IN ORANGE...
Kassulke looked tired on that play from having to come up from safety to the line so much to try and stop KC's quick passing (+/- 8 yards) game. Taylor put the long-legged okey-doke on him and it was over for Minnesota.
@@kingbee1500, Kassulke was a tragic story, his career ended three or four years later with him being a paraplegic in a wheelchair after an accident on his motorcycle that left him paralyzed from the waist on down... He was a good player. He died in '08..
The Chiefs loss to the Raiders (10:25) in their first meeting of the year was a game where Dawson was still grieving over the death of his father just a week before--his performance (5 interceptions-2 returned for TD's) was primarily due to his inability to focus on the game
Otis Taylor has said (in his book "The Need to Win") that the Chiefs loved the old Municipal Stadium-the move to Arrowhead in 1972 (although he realized team owner's Lamar Hunt's need to make more money in a new stadium) hurt the team in several ways--the artificial turf led to a lot of injuries and the intimacy of the old stadium was lost in "cavernous" Arrowhead
I agree. They suffered shocking losses to weak Eagles and Chargers teams in Arrowhead in 1972 that they probably would not have lost at Municipal Stadium.
