My God! What a beautiful Lincoln. My friend's Mom had one just like it in dark Burgundy in the 70's. I'm glad it is sold because I was getting ready to go in dept.
people say that the MKIII is a nicer car than the Eldorado. Now, the MKIII can be classified as a styling masterpiece. It seems that most of the styling was done by Ford utility stylist , L.David Ash. But you take a 1968 Eldo, with its chiseled look, that great , v'eed rear window and the hallmark Cadillac taillights , and I say the Eldo takes the cigar , AND the cake. It's a close call though.
The 67-70 Eldos were absolutely beautifully designed cars, but the build quality of the MK.III was superior. I'd take either one, though... We'll never see such rolling Art again.
It did! it was made specifically to compete with Cadillac. at this time the 460 had more power and torque than Cadillacs 472. The options Lincoln offered on this car were state of the art. Cadillac didn't have automatic temperature control until after Lincoln offered it. Many people have even said that the marks from 69-71 where the only years that had Cadillac beat in it's own game!
The top is most likely white "Cavalry twill vinyl" it's no ordinary top and if it's the original top it's one reason it lasted so long. Not even Cadillac had that.
