I owned a Cougar identical to this one and sold around 1995. Saw it again in 2004 (?) in Louisville Kentucky at Cougar car show. Might be my old car

I'm more of a Chevy guy myself. But I'll say, the '69 Cougar is my very favorite Cougar. And I'd love to be able to have this one myself, '69 Coug., 428 CJ, indestructible C-6 tranny, and I really like the Emerald Green exterior of this one, too.

The Cyclone was the Mercury version of the Torino in 69. Completely different platform from the Cougar/Mustangs.

335hp out of a 428 yikes. Also sounds like that carb needs some work, sounds like its stuttering when getting on the gas. You can see why Mopar dominated drag racing and nascar back in the day. I mean even the lowest rated bigblock or smallblock Mopar was full on power and reliability. The fact that guys today are making 1200hp out of 383s, more out of 440's and Everything under the sun with the Hemi and what I consider the best smallblock ever designed until the LS series in the 2000's, the 340sixpack.

You really think that? Ford was the worst at under estimating the hp numbers. The 351 Boss was rated at 330hp, but actual numbers were closer to 400. Dodge didn't dominate much. The Chevy 409, the Ford 427 were better plants that the hemi. What block dominated Europe to such an extent that Ferrari and GP called the season to ensure Ferrari would win? Wasn't a dodge. Kids these days.

All Ford's were kind of de-tuned from the factory after 1967, the last year of the dual quad R-Code 427. The 428 and 429s all came with a way too small 735 cfm 4 bbl carb, smog equipment before it was mandatory, and a really restrictive exhaust system. Installing a bigger carb(780-850 cfm), a more free flowing exhaust, and removing the smog equipment would wake them right up

@@380Banshee the Fairlane Thunderbolt didn't come out until 1964. In 62 Ford had the 390 and 406 powered Galaxies, which were getting smoked on the regular by 413 Max Wedge Mopars, 421 SD Pontiac's, and 409/409 Chevys

@@gordomiguel1931 I know. That guys clueless. The Chevy Mark IV big blocks(396,427) replaced the 409 mid year 1965 because the 409s had reached their maximum potential and had no chance against 426 Hemi and Max Wedge Mopars and R-Code 427 Fords
