Yeah buddy you got it I was really surprised and amazed that a lot of people got this song beings the short little tidbit that I put in there… It’s close enough you forgot in the guy previous to you forgot the second part I was on the fence about using this song because it’s technically two songs in one. Be sure to tune in tomorrow to catch 1959 Buick invicta super cool episode

@@What.its.like. I loved the 59 Buicks! Looked like nothing else on the road with those crazy canted fins front and back. Lost a little style imo in 60 with the traditionally placed quad headlights. Looking forward to it!

That is exactly right. Nice and breezy on the highway, but bugs can be lethal. Looks cool though with the windshield down and the doors off. Wish I still had mine. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NRSEyu3ziKw.html

Great video as always! Back in 1970 my family was determined to buy either a Landcruiser (not the pickup) or a VW Campmobile. But what turned us off on both vehicles was the price, about 3,500 dollars, lot of money during a time when you could buy a house for 30,000 dollars, a gallon of gas for 30 cents, a loaf of bread for 20 cents. So, we ended up keeping our old 56 VW Convertible; and the five of us would ride up to the mountains with the top down. Interesting vehicle, and quite rare. The Landcruisers that we saw in 1970 were 4 seaters, I never saw the pickup version out in the wild. This vehicle may seem outwardly crude and basic- but it was the best version Toyota made, for later versions transformed what was a good basic off-roader to a luxury laden behemoth that was so big and heavy that it cannot navigate many trails (and you would be afraid of scratching with brush and stones). Why, as a society, do we demand today 100,000 dollar status symbols to roll around in Walmart parking lots?

It drove really good. It was sprung pretty hard but handled great, It was geard pretty low so i kept around 65-70 on the freeways. i drove it to work and back five days a week and during summer months drove it from Berkeley california to the gold country to Georgetown on weekends and went 4-wheeling. Sold it after six years. It was bullet proof. Always had it serviced and had the valves ajusted every year. it was a blast to drive. Always was going to get a overdrive for it but never did.

Hey Jay, thank you for this video on a vintage Toyota Land Cruiser! I'm honestly down for some more import metal on this channel. Don't get me wrong, I think old American cars are very cool but I feel like, as someone who loves classic cars, it is important to know what car companies in other countries were doing and how those foreign cars are different compared to American ones.

Awesome choice and awesome information you’re not the first person to say that this was the metric version of a Chevy in-line six very interesting I’ll have to do a episode on this engine. Maybe one day finding specs on this particular vehicle wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to do. Especially the engine specifications you would think that all that stuff would be out there

This is like seeing an old friend! These units were ubiquitous in Central America in the '70's, where mebbe 90% of the region is "off-road". Esteemed by the locals over Jeep, IH Scout, and Land Rover, in that order. Had a good deal of "seat-time" and "box-time" (standing behind that "headache-rack") in these as the things would negotiate goat-tracks that would daunt a mule with assurance. The FJ series was really the Jeep Perfected. Unfortunately, like most of the first wave of Japanese imports, they've allmost dissapeared,,,, due to the ravages of the tin-worm. Once fairly common, the FJ-40's esp. seemed to rot from the rockers up; locally, I don't think I've seen one this century! It's amazing to see one in this shape; it's cleaner than I remember any that I ever saw... Cheers!

There's a 69 Land Cruiser at my local Toyota dealer restored in the waiting area of the service shop ( they are horrible). I go to a different shop 22 miles away for my 2 Toyotas. I've never seen in person the pickup version so it's no surprise that the owner won't do anything with it since it's a survivor. My choices for your scenarios are for the first - The Blazer...they ride so much better than the Broncos and the Toyotas are so rare and valuable. For the second, the IH Scout. My father had 2 different ones. One was a 6 and the other, a 304 V-8. I guess i was biased on that choice.

Great video. I was told by someone who owned one years ago that the Six is a Japanese copy of the Chevy 235cu straight six. Always wanted one of these... But not at the prices they're going for now! BTW... Waist size is helpful but Inseam would help more. I'm a 36 waist and 32 inseam. I suspect that seat was all the way back though. Those different choices? They were all rust buckets..!

Hi Jay!: The pickup is interesting, but it kind of illustrates how people thought Japanese vehicles were so cheap and flimsy. While the mechanicals are reliable, how long would the doors, tailgate, etc., stand up to HARD use. Of course the vehicles from Japan became better and better because they were CHEAP on gas during the energy crunch and all that MONEY from American sales helped them to be able to develop their products to a very high standard. WYR#1 Gotta be the Bronco for me! Those early ones were pretty cool and had some of the most reliable Ford engines and trannys in them. #2 Gotta be the Scout!! I really think those are cool! I dig that a tractor company made such interesting trucks and the little scout!
