My first Packers game was the 1967 playoff game in Milwaukee (Our hometown) against the Rams. Cold but sunny, my dad and I. NEVER forget it.

That was revenge from the game 2 weeks before, the Rams beat the Packers 27-24 in the last minute in an incredible game

That was really the key playoff win that gets overshadowed by the Ice Bowl. George Allen's Rams beat the Cowboys and the Packers and were rightly considered to be the best team in football that year, but the Packers were still the champions of the league. The only comparison since then would be the 98 Chicago Bulls who were aged and depleted but still were the undisputed champions.

My dad was mentioned in Chester Marcol's book. He was his rehab counselor. Michael Wilson, that's my dad. That's my connection to the Packers. I remember my older brother competing against his son in track & field. Chester Marcol is honestly one of my heroes. The way he battled and won against adversity.

The thing is the Vikings were just a better team in the 70's with Bud Grant as coach and Fran Tarkenton as QB. Even though the Vikings lost those Super Bowls in that 1970's decade, they still had that run of years of winning the division and making it to the Super Bowl. The Packers sadly just didn't have the players to keep up with the Vikings. Neither did the Bears, Lions, and eventually Bucs until 79.

More relevant than Tarkenton was the Purple People Eater defense with 3 Hall of Famers in Page, Eller and Krause and a handful of other legends on top of them. Those were stacked teams. Almost makes you feel bad that they never won. Almost.

(31:34ff.) McCarren is wrong in saying Brockington "was the first back in history to gain 1,000 yards 3 seasons in a row." Jim Brown was (1958,'59,'60). And Jim Taylor was the first back to run for 1,000 yards 5 years in a row (1960, '61, '62, '63, '64).

Many don't know, V.L pioneered "rule blocking" as a universal blocking scheme applied to ANY offense -vs- ANY defense. Since,ALL power offense,at all levels, have used this.

39:53 as a browns fan the worst trade actually now is the Deshaun Watson trade we gave up all that draft picks for him

Vikings trade for Herschel Walker is still the worst trade of all time, worse than Watson. At least the Texans didn’t immediately turn into a dynasty from what the Browns gave up.

I also wonder what would have happened if Jack Vainisi didn't die, and took more of the GM duties in the 60's from Vince so he could concentrate more on coaching. If Vainisi kept up his eye for talent even into the late-60's, maybe their 1968-91 run of futility doesn't happen.

Lombardi studied personality. That is not talked about in the videos that are public so as not to offend. He knew the personality make ups that would win. That would not give up. That would constantly build. Dan Reeves similar. But not as successful.

Rams traded • John Hadl to Packers for • 1975 first round pick (#9-Mike Fanning) • 1975 second round pick (#28-Monte Jackson) • 1975 third round pick (#61-Geoff Reece) • 1976 first round pick (#8-Dennis Lick) • 1976 second round pick (#39-Pat Thomas) on 1974-10-22

Worst trade in Packers history. I think it set up Bart Starr for failure and it set up the Rams to be a powerhouse the rest of the decade. There’s no free agency and only a handful of decent quarterbacks back then. I think they should’ve tried to trade with the Giants for Fran Tarkenton in 1972. QB trades were rare in those days and I’ve always wondered if the Vikings had competition for getting Tark back in 72. I also think Tark would’ve kept GB greatly competitive throughout the 70s and they wouldn’t have had to trade all those draft picks for Hadl and an almost as terrible trade for Lynn Dickey

I clicked on this thinking I was going to watch a video about the 1970's Packers. Nope, same old stuff from the same people. I what point do they stop making everything about race? At what point do they realize that our past is our past and we cannot change it but we've learned from it and are now better because of it and it's time to stop talking about it and move on.
