Actually, the museum was built across the street in 1988/1989. The General Offices and Bangor Terminal are now owned by Time Warner Cable, A.J. Cole & Sons is now Freightliner of Maine.
It's obvious how much pride they took to ensure a perfect result in every aspect of the company's operation. Now shitheads who couldn't rebuild a pencil's point bleed companies dry by outsourcing even the most trivial tasks and ridiculing coworkers who try to help the business run better. ~On another note, I bet Cole's employee picnics were the stuff of legends!
Oh, buddy, I tell you it broke my heart seeing just the way they loaded trailers for line haul at USF Holland/YRC. I used to dread having to kick freight at a dark terminal. Half the time the freight you were looking for wasn't on the truck, and freight that wasn't SUPPOSED to be on it WAS. You were taking your life into your hands to unload the damn things because they loaded them like a Rube Goldberg device ready to blow when touched. The equipment you wouldn't leave a rabid pitbull around. Good old Yellow.
