1970 Dodge Challenger Chemical Paint and Rust removal

Today I am removing all the paint and rust off this classic 1970 dodge challenger. I am using a 3 step process consisting of
an alkaline degreaser/paint remover
A rust removing acid
And a water based rust inhibitor.
The whole process takes about 4-8 weeks and all the chemicals used are environmentally friendly and food grade.

I very much enjoyed your commentary and documentation of the vehicle and the process. This Challenger is gorgeous and in amazing shape. I would guess that she was a garage queen the majority of her life. This video also answered my question as to whether or not my bird would in the tanks. Even with the nose radiator fan etc removed she would definitely be too long. I would need to cut the frame at the firewall, and even then I believe she would be a tight fit. Thank you for another awesome video, I pray that you had an awesome and very much deserved vacation.🙏💜

This car is really well preserved and has few spots of corrosion, and it's really cool to see the condition it came in and how it looked after the baths. Who knows, maybe older ones like this will show up to take a bath.

@@mikeallmon1 With how rusted out they usually are it'd almost make you think that instead of any kind of rust protection they sent the things out the door with a wish and a prayer and called it a day with that. It's a shame with Mopars having at times low production numbers to begin with. Probably speaks to why they're so valuable these days.

The full walk around before and commenting is for me a plus...keep that portion in the videos. for a vinyl top car that I am assuming has lived its life in the PNW that top and edges looked great. I had a 66 Buick years ago...nice clean vinyl top car...took it apart...the vinyl was the only thing keeping it dry!! Sail panels and the roof header were all but gone. I love the variety of cars you show...keep up the great work!!

I suspect those quarters were replaced in the past. My clue is the seams at 12:24 & 12:52. No way that would be factory done. If it was the seam would have been lower at the belt line. That way you would not have to stamp seperate quarters for hardtops and convertibles. Thx for the vid.

RU-vid only brought you to my inflation tonight. The experience based info I'd like to hear is your appraisal of original factory paint. It looked to me that this car was originally red and that factory paint was more tenacious than most. Also I'd like to hear your assessment of how the different manufacturers attached roofs. This is the fifth video tonight and it is the only one that you removed the lead that sealed the roof seam.

The problem with chemical dipping a car is paint will never touch parts of the cars inner structure like inside of structural points of the car which have inner and outer panels. You would need to dip it into some sort of anti corrosion solution to reach all the places that the stripping chemical reached. Maybe hot dip galvanize the whole car?
