Had a 69 when new ans traded it in on a Toyota during gas shortage in 73. Found a 70 many years later in Grabber Orrange which I had for about 15 years. Great cars. Thanks for sharing and bringing back my memories!
I have known this car since the mid 80's. It belonged to a roommate and coworker. I'm glad it's seeing the light of day again. I would love to get an update at some point.
Cool Mercury, I read the Boss 302 in the 70 eliminators cost a few hundred more over & above the 428scj. P.s I’ve owned three cyclones & three V8 Fox body capris. One was a same color as this. A rarer color in 1985
If I was younger, I'd buy this and convert it into a highway cruiser. Obviously the ridiculous 4.30 rear gear would have to go and the whole car would have to be made interstate ready. The cooling system would have to be upgraded and the drive-train balanced to insure sustained 80 MPH cruise. A modern 5 speed transmission would probably be needed as well. It would be fun to drive this across the country and have little adventures along the way. I do that now but I use a BMW M car for that purpose. My original dream was to use a 69 Camaro Z-28 but they got very expensive.
Nice car....funny, I always wanted one of these cars. I remember them being on the street when I was growing up. But, as time has gone by they have lost their allure to me...the new Mustang GT's are just SO much better than these cars were...no longer really have a desire to own one.
The Boss 302s with those steep drag gears seem like an oxymoron to me. I mean, these cars were produced to battle it out on tracks with TURNS, and unfortunately, Trans Am racing did not catch on with the public enough where we demanded to buy cars that turned and handled. Even the iconic '68 Bullitt Mustang with its handling and wide-ish wheels and tires did not seem to pull our heartstrings enough to want to carve canyons en masse in American pony cars. I know there were all sorts of drag classes back then; obviously a small block class that a few people raced these Boss 302s in, but just looking at this one with its lower stance, I would not be waking up on a Saturday morning, looking at that beauty, and think to myself, "I wonder how quick it CAN pull the quarter in..." No, I would be wondering just how well it could take me through the twists and turns on Topanga Canyon or Mulhulland on the way to the beach! Not to mention, once I hit PCH, I would want to open her up to see how close I can get to her top speed. Those 4:30 gears do not seem like something I would want to take through the canyon, not to mention I would probably want to go a bit quicker than 82 mph top speed on the wide open highway...
Nice. Mustang to me were a mixed bag. Some great , some not do great.I liked the bodily style until about 1970. The new ones look fat, like the challenge gee and Camaro, nice retro remakes.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.
@@BuzzLOLOL Oh, I didn't notice any holes. But if it's really necessary then replace it. I just hate to see it if it's not necessary. Even though I really don't like the color of the interior, it doesn't go well with the colors of the rest of the car.
@@77yogurt - Driver's seat, as expected, has holes... correct fabric to fix it came in the trunk of the car... obviously, thousands of people liked that color combo back in the day... LOL! ... no accounting for taste...
@@BuzzLOLOL only one got it for that car tho. I think the color would work on a midsized or full sized Ford of the mid to late 1960's but only if the color is closer to the seat color.
