The Smith & Wesson Model 59 is a true classic, and it's fantastic to see it in action again. Thanks for taking us on this trip down memory lane and giving the Smith & Wesson Model 59 the spotlight it deserves!
My father is OBSESSED with the 59/59xx and 39/39xx pistols. He has damn near every model and variation ever made, pretty much his own s&w museum. Never misses an opportunity to remind me that his are all metal and most of mine are plastic. 🙄😆
I carried a 39-2 for many years. Back then, the early 80s, you couldn't beg , borrow, or steal a model 59. Im still looking for one when i go to the gun shows.
Excelente video..!!
I had a factory nickel one I traded a few years ago for a mint condition Walther P1. As much as I like the P1, I wish I had my Model 59 still. I occasionally kick myself over doing that trade.
Love my model 59, which was bought new. It's fantastic. I even found a few Factory S&W magazines on ebay, which they have to advertise as 10 rd, but we all know what they are. My friend with a Glock says, you can also use it as a hammer. I say back, yeah.. nice huh.
The Smith and Wesson 59 is a real gun from an era when men were men. And women were women. There was no confusion about any of that. And people could smoke outside public doorways, inside restaurants and inside bars just as God intended. Gasoline vehicles made in America had bad gas mileage by today's standards, but they were also built like tanks and cost much less to repair. And people could afford to work at one job while renting a decent apartment in the Bronx with little trouble. Guns like these cost about as much as a single paycheck, brand new. Need I go on?
The firearm is very high quality. But the operating system is a bad design in my opinion. Having to push up on the safety to disengage is bad ergonomics. (That part of the thumb has no meat on it) And the stiff double action first shot, followed by light single action trigger on all remaining shots is a fix for a non-existing problem. It's as if a California politician designed the system to make it safer "for the children".
