I wish more commercials today, on TV/internet, incorporated full-on jingles/musical numbers like they used to. I'm not kidding. I mean, if they did, if commercials had this level of creative effort and quality incorporated in them, I might actually disable my ad-blocker(s) and just enjoy them.
One reason, I think, is that when people feel like slaves, it's just kinda hard to smile. Back when this commercial was made, store workers got paid a living wage. Also, now stores "make do" with less workers, while needing the same amount of work done.
I think Safeway is now Albertson's where I am. If I stand in front of the store singing "Come see us soon at Albertson's. Since we're neighbors lets be friends!" will they give me anything for free, or call the psychiatric hospital to pick me up?
I live in Southern California & thought the chain died or was bought out. I recently visited Washington DC area and saw Safeway stores. I felt so much nostalgia. I hadn't seen a Safeway store since the 80's
