That's me up the mast of Boomerang VII, Peter Joubert's foam fibreglass downwind flyer (but a real pig to windward) between 07:20 to 07:25 sorting out a jammed spinnaker halyard just a few minutes before the start of the 1970 Sydney to Hobart yacht race ... just between Woollahra Point and Double Bay. Shortly after when we started the run down the coast, someone eased (well, completely let it go) the brace just a tad too far whilst I was standing on the pulpit trying to thread a new brace through the outboard parrot beak of the pole which then belted me in head knocking me over the side ... thank gawd I had the presence of mind to hank myself on ... they hauled me back on and dumped me down the forward hatch on top of the genoa, I came to off Jervis Bay ...
