50 years ago a 9 year old boy was crying and thinking his team would never get another chance to win a World Series because of Brooks Robinson. Regardless, I still always admired him as a ballplayer and a 'grown up.' Thanks for the video!

@MANCHESTER UNITED that's nice, but it has zero to do with me, the 70 Series or any thing else i referenced here. I don't expect to be around in 2040 so dont look for me to be celebrating the greatness of your game. I'm not remotely interested in it today or tomorrow. And for your information, i havent paid much attention to MLB since the late 80s. Cheers mate

@M Soccer's boring. Kickball will never be a major sport in the US.

And 5 years later you were rooting for one of the greatest teams in MLB history. The 75-76 Reds were loaded.

Sparky Anderson...a class act. Down 3 to 1 handled the interview with Tony Kubek with so much grace and positivity. Then when defeated the class he showed by going into the Oriole locker room. Great guy!

It's interesting how each series plays out. Who can tell how it will unfold? For instance I was a kid during this time and myself and friend (he was a Dodgers fan) were stunned by the Orioles 4 game sweep of them in 66. Then in 69 The Amazing Mets danced on them...and then they dismantled The Big Red Machine. These were special times in baseball with great players who played hard all the time.

On some videos of the 1971 world series, commentators we're saying that was the first color broadcast of the WS. Seems they were wrong.

1969 World Series Game 3 is the oldest existing color broadcast for MLB. I think Super Bowl 3 (January 1969) is the oldest existing color sports broadcast (honorable mention to the 4th quarter of Game 7 of the 1969 NBA Finals also still exists in color). But I believe there were color broadcasts going back as far as the 1955 World Series when Brooklyn finally beat the Yankees. Some bar owners were able to show it in color and some fans didn't like it, thought it looked weird, thought the color looked artificial. But because most tv's were black and white tv's and the industry was not entirely ready to archive any video as color broadcasts, a lot of the broadcasts that survived from that time were not able to survive in the color format until 1969.

Brooks was the MVP of this series, but Frank was the MVP of this O's dynasty.

2:27:31 Curt Gowdy, usually a reserved broadcaster, couldn't help but shout at Robinson's play at 3rd. What a legend.

next to no celebration by Baltimore on the field after the final out. Everybody ran to the dressing room--plastic sheets I guess for the splashing of champaign--otherwise, quite a subdued celebration compared to the years that followed

Back then, teams would typically run right to the dugout. It's interesting compared to today.

I wonder what exactly would be a fastball pitch back then.

Of course back then a team's ace was expected to go more than 5 innings and then turn the game over to an assortment of relief pitchers.
