1min 47: Strawberry bonbons - long time no see - yet still remembered that they were called bonbons - I thought they were called sherbert bonbons. Also had lemon ones. I used to hate Rupert the Bear but this song evokes much nostalgia!
Bonbons came in different flavours, back then, plain white had a tiger centre, but yellow and strawberries had the same flavour tofee inside that corresponded to the colour, and I agree you completeley about the Rupert the Bear theme song...
@@leethomas255 Thanks for your response. I have not actually been able to eat any sweets [and indeed most sauces as they have vinegar and also spicey foods] since summer 2012 and eat very bland food. I had some gum recession problems in summer 2012 with a few upper teeth - then in 2013 a mysterious burning pain in a lower premolar tooth at the gumline which - although pulled out in 2017 after root-canal and crown treatment - appeared in the adjacent premolar tooth with another pain on the other side etc. Even after doing all the treatments, although the molar has stopped hurting, the burning with the premolar goes up and down with what i eat (even after root canal and crown). I asked to have it pulled out last year but the dentist referred me to a specialist [finally saw on april 31st] , who then claimed it was probably burning mouth syndrome which they don't really understand rather than sensitivity [although only at one tooth!}. Told that there is 6-8 month wait for NHS appointment - but it seems I will never eat sweets again. But no need to feel sorry, look up who I actually am on Google [esp. the Undermining the Walls/Invading the Sacred entry]. My books have been exciting academic scholars worldwide - I am the man who will undermine all Religion, Materialist Science. solved the central problems of Eastern and Western Philosophy and bring in the New Age!
We have a shop in Sheffield called granellis it's being here many years and you can. Bye most of the old 70 sweets and still made bye the original sweet makers it's a fab shop
And I wonder why my teeth are so bad at 40!!!!! Jeez, I have eaten every single one of those at some point! What is sad, is that I can still remember the tastes too!!!
OMG 'Chocolate Tools' how fab. Whilst on holiday last month went to eat at a Chinese buffet. The main part of the 'kids' dessert section included loads of 70's sweet. Get out of my way kid, grown up coming through :-)
This is all I could find on the Internet : Frazzles are a bacon-flavour corn-based snack sold in the United Kingdom, manufactured by Smiths, and for a time by Walkers. The packet has kept to the same crimson background with yellow writing style throughout the brand's presence in the market. The snacks have been produced since 1975, as printed on recent packaging. Frazzles are styled as rashers of bacon and because of this are very recognisable. Leslie Ivey, a tool maker working on behalf of Smiths' West London factory, managed the design and build of the first machine to draw the signature stripe on Frazzles. Many supermarkets have since released their own-brand bacon corn snacks because of the popularity of Frazzles. Despite their bacon styling, Frazzles are suitable for vegetarians but not vegans, as they contain lactose from milk.
I loved milk teeth when i was young, mum used to give us 20p & that would get us a good lot of sweets. Cider quenches were always a fav when the ice cream van came round, great times.
What a wonderful period in one's life! Music, fashion, sweets and life was so simple. So emotional at times that nostalgia can be. Thank you Geoff for the upload.
Anybody remember the fizzy covered red 'Cola Cubes' shown in the clip? I loved them, and the chewy buterscoth sweets, no-one seems to remember them or Treats 😢
I'm trying to find the Australian Tosca chocolate bar advertisement from the 70's. No luck so far. Also does anyone remember the Pearl mints from the 70's? They were pearly white & round with a chocolate filling.
