He did what a friend of mine did back then, swapped the SL pipes for CL pipes. Made it a lot better off road. He used to wheelie it for miles down the road.

Always loved the Honda SLs and XLs my brother had a little 71 SL 70 same identical colors.

That bike is Fuckin Bad Ass Just seeing it in the snow and that late 60s 70s helmet reminds me of the 70s im in my fiftys and Sls were all over you riad sun sleet rain back then even double your buddy on the back or your old lady it just brings a smile to your face just got to ajust the points alot wish i could go back in time but i do alittle when i see these vids old days in carver mass God Bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I own that bike now painted it red and replaced alot of parts . I still have those exhaust pipes .cant wait to get it out soon

My first bike ever was a 1971 Honda SL 70 , blue with the white stripes , I later bought a 1971 Honda SL 350 like the one in this vidio! It was blue also.I have been riding motorcycles for 51years now,my curant bike is a 2003 Kawasaki vulcan nomad 1500fi! When I got back from Vietnam, my SL 70 was still in my mom's garage,I charged the battery and put fresh gas in it and it started up after about 7 kicks ,and i road stall over the neighborhood! Of all the bikes i have had , 135 bikes in the last 51 years , i would give anything to have that little 1971 SL 70 back again! The best memories of my teen years were from riding that faithful little Honda ,it never failed to take me anywhere i wanted to go ! Now I'm a permanently disabled Vietnam vet ,I still ride all year long and my Kawasaki is a great bike 104.895 miles on her so far never a break down ! But I still cherish the memories of that little Honda SL 70 , best times of my childhood! By the way, you rock bro !🏍

My 18 year old brother owned this bike back in the day. To this day I don’t know if knew I “borrowed” his SL a lot. I loved drag racing all the other neighborhood bikes a slaying them. Ride it like you stole it. 😎 My brother and I rode this bike to the top of Pikes Peak. Now that was an adventure. I still have a fond spot for this bike. If I recall it had special carbs that adjusted themselves according to atmospheric pressure, via a diaphragm. His bike ran well a 14,000 ft.

I restored a '72 for a friend of mine. He bought it new. It still had the original black exhaust instead of the CL pipes on this one. We put a CL rear sprocket on it (after some machining) and it was an absolute blast. At the time I owned '71 CB and CL 350s, still have the CB. Those ARE the best motorcycle tires for the snow! Nice bike, been trying to buy my friend's SL for over 10 years now.

That's the first vehicle I legally drove solo on the street at age 16. You could ride a motorcycle on your learner's permit, but had to wait until 16 1/2 to drive a car, so it was my only transportation for a few months. My buddy and I got pinned under that same bike a year or so earlier when I low sided it off a dirt road. Fond memories...

That right there is so similar to my first street bike. Mine was a CB350, I got it in a 3 bike deal. One other being a 82 Nighthawk 650 and 3rd a regular CB650. That little 350 was fun around town. There were a couple of these around when I was young and were a pretty nice machines on and off. Oh yes they got destroyed. Thing is you could get on the highway and just pin it forever, wouldn't really go much above 65/70 or so but it could do it forever.

So cool ! Looks like the 19" front rim too. I have a 72 that my dad bought brand new. It has 13,000 miles on it. I learned to ride and took my road test on it. Same color too.

I had one exactly like that one. Same year and color. I would like to get another one. I eventually wrecked it after I sold it to my brother in law. It never ran again after that.

I had a 74 or 75 SL150, same color. It was heavy for a dirt bike but fun nevertheless.

Loved mine, always had a roll of electric tape on me, Incase I had to tape the carb boots back together

If this was mine i wouldn't worry about the small dents in the tank or other slight imperfections if anything it gives the bike a bit of character, nor would i hide it away in storage this would be daily rider.

Cousin had the SL70. Can’t remember if it was the same blue or a non metal flake. Great times. I was going to redo an SL350 when I was a teen but my four stroke repair skills weren’t ready for it.

I always kind of thought you were may be a little bit nuts but now I absolutely know it for sure. Beat to death by over enthusiastic youngsters like myself LOL 😂

I had a 72 CB350. I put a 2 into 1 pipe on it and bored the cylinders to 358cc. Powerall High Dome pistons raised the compression to 10.5:1 and things got much more interesting. If you hit the throttle while rolling in 1st gear you couldn't keep the front end on the ground. Something the stock bike would never do. This video sounds like a stock engine with pipes. These old Honda engines have a lot of room for performance increases and there are still lots of parts available to make it happen.

Those were great bikes. My brother rode one for several years, but I’d be careful tearing around in the show like that. You might wind up in the trees. Also those scrambler pipes are great, but most places will call them illegally noisy. But they were great old bikes.

I bought one new when I was making 1.25 per hour and at 17 it was a blast. The weak point was the foot pegs and the stupid gas cap.
