Great big cars that sold so well in 72. The ride must have been great in these cars with good power.

I prefer the full sized Oldsmobiles from 71-76. My Mom drove a 72Olds 98 LS. it was more luxurious than the Electra or SedanDe Ville that our neighbors had

A metallic gold 1972 Electra 225 was my moms daily driver when we lived in Atlanta. In 73' it towed a 12 foot camper to Yellowstone for vacation. It snowed 4 inches on Fathers Day. Dad and i still went trout fishing. Good times.

Did they buy it at Hix Green or Davidson's Buick?

@@japanjack62 Neither one actually. It was a demo that somehow wound up at Lou Evans Toyota. My dad was a body and paint guy for Lou Evans at the time.

Nice cars but I like Pontiac better and Oldsmobile even Chevrolet Buick just don’t speak out to me like Pontiac does but if you look close enough all these General Motors cars are really the same just different trim & names and as you climb the GM ladder you get some extra equipment that was not available on its corpotate Brother of a lesser status It all starts at Chevy then you start to climb Pontiac Oldsmobile Buick Cadillac GMC And whatever other Vehicles they should happen to Conjour Up as the years carry on

Love how the interior trim selections all have crank windows until you get to the Electra Limited. In the brochures, even some of the lower level lines would be depicted with power windows, but all the way up to 1974 the cranks were still standard in even base Electras. Today if you see an Electra of this vintage with a bench seat and crank windows, it's pretty unusual. (You also got the standard door card on the base - and even the custom - this year - notice the Limited deluxe full length control panel) To me, the Buicks were the best looking of the 5 lines for this generation - with the exception of the 71-72 Cadillac vs. 71-72 Electra, where they tied, but the Cad conveyed considerably more prestige. The lock pillar vents 'improve operation' by not potentially killing you like the 71's theoretically might have - oops.

I knew of a beautiful 1972 Electra 225 with the Custom Cloth interior, but it had the crank windows. Medium blue with a white vinyl top. It was owned by a nurse at the local community hospital. This was in 1972 and she bought it new.

Why Buick did away with the Centurian I will never know, especially 1971, 1972 were beautiful cars. Best looking full size Buicks ever made!

My parents were Buick people especially my Mom. They bought in 67, 69, 78, 85,88. They did not get the 71 or 72's. I wish they would have. I'd still have those cars.

No mention of wearing the lap and separate shoulder belts. I guess a sign of the times.

they weren't joined together until the 1974 model year

1974 was the first year for the three point seat belts. However, starting in mid year 1972, the shoulder belts clipped into the lap belts and then latched into the buckle to the side of the driver and front seat passenger's waist. This was an early form of the three point seat belt, but with this configuration the shoulder belt was like the earlier styles and when properly adjusted was quite confining. As a teenager in the mid 70s I had a 1970 Buick Electra to drive. It had a lap belt that buckled in the center of the waist and the shoulder belt had another buckle that sat just at the edge of the occupant's rib cage. I am very familiar with these old style belts as I was that rare kid that actually wore both the lap and shoulder belts when I drove.@@japanjack62

This was very well presented. I do wonder why they didn't include the Estate Wagon, though.
