The Corvette aluminum wheels look great on that Heavy Chevy. Auto trivia, they were to be released on the 73 Vette, but were pulled back due to difficulty holding air. They made it into production in 76, after changing manufacturers. Sir, it's so great to have you back! Thank you High Octane Classics for being a true partner and helping make these happen ~ Chuck
I ordered a late 1976 Vette and it came with those wheels - the Firestone Tires were all recalled a few months later and all new tires were installed for free.
@@LKWDITE Thank you! I realize now I had mixed the aluminum wheels (73) and the Firestone Tires (76). I've edited my original post to avoid passing along misinformation. Thanks for helping my failing memory recover.
I agree. They look surprisingly factory. I still think 15 by 7 wheels with white letter tires look best on 60’s and 70’s cars. I’m not even that old and I hate when people put 20” wheels on older cars
Thanks Steve, continued best wishes on your recovery. Hey, don't forget Steve's Go Fund Me. Give a little back to the man who has provided us all with auto/muscle history.
Hi 👋 Steve nice to see you in your Class room Showing us this lovely Heavy Chevy..Classic cars don't getold Same as our 🎼 Snowbirds 🐦 Classic Keeping it fresh 🇨🇦 Thankyou Steve
In 1972 my sister bought a 1972 Chevelle SS 454 4speed. that was one cool car I was about 13 at the time. it was a dark brown with gold SS stripes I haven't seen another one like it since. thanks for sharing this beauty with us. it really good to see you up and sharing your knowledge again
Sure is good to see Steve doing his thing again. Always pick up something new and interesting with this guy. Really beautiful car and Really good 4:11 info. Heavy chevy...Really has a ring to it.
I had a 1971 Heavy Chevy in High School (77/80). I had more good times in that car than I can count and now at age 62 thinking back still puts a smile on my face.
Olds had the Rallye 350, the Pontiac Sport LeMans among others that were a bit of early "sticker muscle" as appearance made the difference and if you optioned them right, you could still get something decent.
@@googleusergp Don't forget the Pontiac LeMans GT37, very nice looking car. Two friends had them when new, one Blue w/ silver stripes and the other was Bronze and gold which imo was a real looker.
Glad to see you back! I brought home a 72 Monte Carlo about a month ago now and am finally getting things sorted out enough to think about a test drive 👍
Those are really nice riding cars! I like the Montes, Grand Prix, and the 73 and 74 larger A body cars with the improved front end and brakes. The slightly bigger cars are the bomb, I have a 74 Buick GS Century Gran Sport.
You are looking stronger each day, which is good to see. The "SS" rubber emblem on the 1972 models would actually pass for a bumper guard and for damage protection which made the insurance people happy. LOL. I think you meant "Strato" bucket seats perhaps. No VIN, can't win, but something like: 1 for Chevrolet, D for Malibu, 37 for two door sport coupe, various choices for the engine (F for 307 V8 with two barrel, H for 350 V8 with two barrel, J for 350 V8 with four barrel, or U for 402 V8 with four barrel), 2 for 1972 model year, possible B for Baltimore, MD assembly (closed in 2005), R for Arlington, TX assembly (still operates as of 2024), K for Kansas City, MO (Leeds, closed in 1988), L for Van Nuys, CA (closed in 1992) or 1 for Oshawa, Ontario Canada (closed in 2019, but reopened in 2021) and the rest is the production sequence. No tag, can't brag, but it should be code 36 Spring Green exterior paint. Anne Murray was born in 1945 so as of 2024 she is 78 years old, not 85.
Great to see you Steve! Back in the day I raced one of these on the mean streets of the South Side of Chicago. I had a 69 Chevelle with a hot small block. I won. lol! Glad to see you're doing ok.
Haha so awesome! In 1972 my mother bought my aunt's 1968 Cutlass S convertible with a 350 Rocket. She immediately had it repainted from the stock gold to dark metallic green. Popular color back then I guess. And lastly, she had an 8 track player installed and aside from Barry White and Stevie Wonder, we did have my older brother's 8 track copy of Deep Purple's Machine Head.
A good friend of mine bought a Heave Chevy new back in 1972. It was blue with the white stripes and badging. I boughta new 72 SS Nova around that same tome and another friend bought a new 72 Camaro all around that same time. It was a great time to be a teenager in high school.
Steve, I had the sister to this car. I had a "Rally Nova". The same concept. Had the 350 engine with 3 speed sagnaw trans with hurst shifter. I could only get the 10 bolt rear. But it did have positraction, dual exhaust, Bucket seats, sport steering wheel, blacked out grill, and the steel rally wheels with chrome trim rings. It was the first brand new car I ever bought. I loved that car. Kept it until 1994. I wish I still had it. It was light and fast!
A friend has 1971 Heavy Chevy with drum brakes and manual steering. It does have a 12 bolt rear, but no rear sway bar. It is an automatic with a Turbo 400 transmission.
Thanks Steve, you just solved a 38 year puzzle me and my brothers had. Our friend in H.S. ( 1978 ) bought a 1972 Rally Nova 350 4bl and yes it was a 3 speed, 3 on the tree. We always wondered why anyone would order a new performance package with a 3 speed. WOW Insurance.
My buddy almost bought a used 1972 Heavy Chevy in 1975, we almost had him talked into it, but, he settled for a new 75 Malibu 6 cyl dog lol We test drove the HC and it was really nice, blue with a white vinyl top. Looked sharp. Oh well...
My 1970 SS 454 LS5 Chevelle came with the domed hood but, no flapper that made it fully functional. In 1970 the base domed hood did not come with hood pins. Interesting that they were available on the Heavy Chevy domed hood in '71 and '72. Looking great Steve!
Those are some of the best looking alloy wheels to ever come out of GM in my opinion and that includes the newer stuff as well. There's just something so right about them.
