Lovely story. Yet to own a 914 but has long been a dream ride. The perfect mash of man and mechanics - all that the driving experience should be. Your grandfather would be proud.
Well done, well done indeed. My parents drove our good family friend's Porsche 914 from Victoria, to Grande Prairie Alberta. It was not the road trip they expected. It was winter. It was cold, under powered for the Rockies and Mum was just glad to get this favour done and get home. lol She loved road trips just not in this car. It did break down once but Dad was able to get it going again. He was in his glory. The car looked exactly like Aaron's. Brought back memories for me as well. Really well done. :D
I owned a 1972 Porsche 914 and alsolutely loved it. Nobody mentions what Found was the most remarkable feature of the car, that was no tilting forward under braking. The rear of the car sunk down under braking giving the most solid feel to the car. Handling was exceptional! Unfortunately I had a young family and no money to restore it. I watch this video and dream!
I've always wanted a 914 since riding in new one belonging to a friend back in 1975. The 914 was always been treated as the red-headed step child of Porsche by the purest, but not any longer. The prices on these neat little cars have skyrocketed. My grandson is two years old. I just purchased his first car for him - a 914! But I get to enjoy it for 14 mores years before I have to hand over the keys!
Wow! ..I have alot of memories with the 914 growing up my older sister had a beautifully restored '74 ( I think ) orange with gold bbs rims.. what a piece of history.. Thanks for sharing
Don't know if anyone will care about my 66 Mustang I bought in 1970 like he feels about his grandfather's 914 but it is a car with memories. Excellent production.
You guys. This is AMAZING. I can NOT tell you how happy and excited I was to see this pop up. This is literally the convergence of all kinds of things in my life. I have been a VW fanatic for a long time and loved following your journey with Ripley. You guys are great, honest, funny, and my favorite to watch. Now this? My first VW love was actually a 1972 914. This video captures all of it. I love it. Do more. MORE NOW. Please. Great work, please keep it up. Literally made my day. Cannot express how true this is. THANK YOU.
Great story I've lost it for a 9143 when a neighbor picked me up and gave me a ride to football practice had an opportunity to buy one in 95, a 6 cylinder but the thing was beat. On the test ride the front flew open and smashed the windshield. The owner said damn I knew I made that too tight I'll make you a hell of a deal and I backed up. Looking back probably should have taken the deal but finally purchased a 71 Geminiblue 4 cylinder. A California car
Bought wife 75 1.8 with appearance group ( console, gauges, blacked out bumpers etc ) Ran flawlessly for 110k . Had valve job and sold it for what we paid for it 5 years later too the 1st guy who who saw it
I just bought my grandson a 1973 2.0. I'll show him how to wrench it before I pass. He has been warned to ditch his iphone and bone up on what us old guys know about these cars.
What happened to these peeps? I remember watching the troopy vid and some of their vanagon videos almost a year ago now they haven't posted in 9 months:(
Grandpa paid a little for that one: chrome bumpers, fog lights, rear window defroster, vinyl top, console box, leather wrap wheel, push button radio(?) It has adjustable passenger seat, thought 72 still had the non-adjustable seat?
@@LiveWorkWander I meant new videos, take no offense for what I'm about to say, but your still breathing, so why not take the opportunity to continue to create new content and might I add great content in my opinion
You know everybody is giving you praise for a well done short. But did everyone forget there are no fat sounds to accent the commentary. No but really great job. I have a story to tell if you are interested in a civil rights labor leader and union organizer from 1929
Do you think you are finished with this YT channel? I’m looking to thin the herd as my list of subscriptions is growing out of hand. First world problems I know.
