1972 Rolex Milgauss ref. 1019 

Magnets: How do they work? Honestly, we couldn’t tell you, but we can tell you that they’re incredibly bad for mechanical wristwatches - which were an important piece of kit for scientists before the age of digital timekeeping. In this installment of our series What Is On My Wrist, C + T CEO Cam Barr takes a look at a seldom-seen Rolex Milgauss ref. 1019 from 1972, a watch designed specifically to be worn by scientists who needed a watch they could rely on in environments that exposed them to electromagnetic fields! While the ref. 1019 was not the first nor the last of the Milgauss line, it is one of our personal favorite Milgauss references and a watch that was something of a commercial bomb in-period, but has developed into a late-blooming hit with collectors. And the specific example we look at in this episode is cleaner than a sterile lab floor!
