Lots of fun. My old boss owned a purple triple 750 and same time I owned a 79 rd400 Daytona special. Was cool looking out the window at work seeing them and waiting for lunch or off work. Unfortunately a oak tree fell on his in his yard, even bent the frame.

Mike Vincent That’s a high price for a low mileage unmolested example. This particular one is far from that. Thx though 🤙🏼

@Mike Vincent Prices like that, especially for shabby examples drove me to buy a modern retro. I'm very happy with my BMW RnineT racer S, and I like my mates Triumph Thruxtons. For me, the numbers don't really add up to buy old. Each to his own of course.

I'm OLD enough to remember when these bikes were selling new, and nothing was faster than these 2 stroke triple Kawasakis. They didn't handle great in the twisties but what a crotch-rocket going straight. Love that 2-stroke sound. I also LOVED the Yamaha RD400 another rocket. I love the rural New England countryside in your vids too, easy to spot by the classic building most of which I'm guessing are over 100 years old. My dad's roots are in New England though he left in 1942 to fight in the SW Pacific, and newer wanted to return there after exposure to the war. Sad how the classic New England accent is fading away due to exposure via TV and internet, no more isolation of small communities. Keep up the great videos. Aloha.

I lived in Mass. from late 1973 to late 1976, on Lake Boon, Hudson. I had 2 '74' Kaws, a 175 F7 trail, and an H2 750. Fun days, and a neat area in those days, with all the old buildings and rural roads, open spaces still around. Commuted from there to work in Maynard. On the H2 I would take different roads every day, and on days I rode the F7 I would take different off road paths and trails.

I bought a 1970 mach 3 in 1971 for $600.00 MSRP was $999.00. Rode it for a year in Texas and survived. Sold it to another Marine and flew home for good. It was my first and last motorcycle and I figured why press my luck. I always referred to it as a chainsaw on wheels but a lot of fun at 21.

My first street bike was the 1974 400 triple. I could hardly keep the front wheel down when shifting. All of my street bikes have been Kaws 400, 650, 1000, 1100, and still have my 77 kz900. The 400 was unbelievable fast and to this day have never rid anything as quick. I know they are rare but if you ever get the chance ride it you wont be disappointed

One of my dream bikes in the early 70s, when I was a teenager. Didn't get to own one, but did eventually own a Yamaha Rd 350 LC, a Kawasaki k1 250 and a Suzuki rg 500 gamma, all great 2 stroke motorcycles. We have lost so much in the name of progress.

I'm only 30 but I love these things and would seriously consider getting one if I find one at a good price. I've always loved old bikes. My dad had a couple little Honda 90s and a ct100 I think it was called? He sold it when I was young but loved those old 90s with the hi/low transmission even more than the newer bikes he had. There was just something about 70s motorcycles that can't be beat. Edit, the other Honda was a sl100 just looked it up.

I had a friend let me borrow his 2 stroke once. I remember being sent to the back of the seat and barely holding onto the end of the throttle while it was wide open. I just kept shifting and slowly worked my way back onto the front of the seat where I could finally control the throttle. My face was directly over the speedometer and it was reading 110mph. It all happened so fast. I remember the exact road I was on. You never forget that kind of power. What a rush

The Kawasaki sounded like a bunch of stray cats in a bag and the Honda was like a sewing machine. Needless to say this green and black 73 Kawasaki triple is my favorite of all bikes. You guys always make such a professional presentation. Thank you for preserving these old bikes. Some lucky rich person is going to own this now.

I'll try to explain it to you and hopefully you'll understand. 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, and 1978 are separate years which would amount to six. However a school year does not run from January to December. The school year starts in September of one year and ends in June or July of the following year. Now that you know that I'm sure you'll be able to figure out how many years I went to high school. I have owned and ridden many bikes over the years but my absolute favorite was my 1975 H1F 500!!! Oh My God Wicked Fast!!! I bought her in 1977 from the original owner with only 200 miles, he was afraid of it! I rode that beast for six years when I finally had to rebuild the top end...I may have gone a smidge beyond what the frame and front fork was able to handle!!! After my break-in period was up I opened her up on Rt. 95, pegged the speedo, hit an expansion joint on the Piscataqua River Bridge, those of you from my area will know where that is, and went into a high-speed wobble, something I found out much too late that they were prone to dut to the horribly underbuilt front end. Of course, my overbore of the engine didn't help! Yep, totaled! My current ride is a 1973 CB 750 barn find. it is tough to beat those '70s pieces.

I bought a new 1969 Mach III, had the dealer install the optional (slightly lower) gearing that dropped one tooth on the front sprocket and added 2 on the rear, final drive. 1st and second gear were the wheelie gears if I were riding solo, 3rd gear would also pull the front tire up with a passenger on board. I weighed 160 at the time, I could not keep the front wheel down even if I had my balls hanging over the gas tank. Fun bike for straight line racing, piss poor handling in the corners. I raced all comers, never lost a drag race! Even another 69 500 couldn't come close. That guy went back to Mt. Vernon and probably got the optional gears like I had. It wasn't even a close race. I can only imagine what that bike would have been like if there were longer swing arms like is available on some of these 200+ hp motorcycles. I lost a lot of speed going to a 69 Triumph Bonneville, but boy could that Triumph handle!

In 1969 I had a '68 Suzuki T500 Titan and my cousin had a '69 Kawasaki H1 500. The H1 was, of course, faster; but it did not handle or brake too well. Still it was an awesome bike which advanced motorcycling to a new era of performance. Would love to have one in my stable for riding around the neighborhood. But alas, its down the list a ways since its not really the best for a trip of any sort. I'm guessing the modern tires on this bike and the dual disks on the '73 improve it vastly over the early H1s.

The T500 Suzuki sounded incredible. Probably the best sounding 2 stroke. I think this guy was using the low down torque on this 500triple but it's probably best not to push these old bikes to much. 2 strokes need to be in there power band really where everything just works out right and most of the fuel gets burnt in the cylinder and the back pressure keeps everything in place.

The widowmaker. A guy around here was left paralyzed by one of these beasts. Average handling, little to no brakes, but when you hit that power band you're thrown into the next dimension, lol.

I think the early ones had a plate to hold spare plugs because they sooted up so often.great bike
@JETZcorp
@JETZcorp 4 года назад
I think they all had that, although it really wasn't a problem if the bike was jetted properly and nothing was wrong with the ignition. I guess if you used the bike to idle in Manhattan traffic it could happen too.

@@JETZcorp they never talk about the buzz of the electronic ignition , mine burned the center electrode off the spark plugs ... i ran NGK buhx , problem solved ...

@@leseverman4152 Did you have an early H1, like 69-71 years? Those had a unique ignition, and I heard it'd briefly scramble TVs when they rode by!

a beast you can tell by the noise it makes . if ya wanna know why kwakas are green .to the japanese green is a lucky colour
@JETZcorp
@JETZcorp 3 года назад
The story I heard was that green was UNlucky in Japan, and Kawasaki chose the color as a sign of confidence in their engineering.

I was exposed to these in 1975 at the age of 7. My childhood buddy's two older brothers each had one and later the father of one of my babysitting mates' dad had a 750 mach lV that he would roll up on every few weeks. Lol then later yet, the older brother of a girl we were all pining after had a 1975 500. I was riding a moped at the time (15 yrs old) but he took me on a few rides then one day let me ride (ing since 9 yrs old) it. It was the first street bike I'd ever ridden. ADDICTION.
