1973 Volkswagen Kombi Type-2 Subaru EJ25 STI Powered Campervan Restomod Project
Divers Street Rods took home the Hutton Builders Choice Award at Goodguys 2015 with their 1972 Volkswagen Bus. Most of the parts on this Van was sourced from a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX. The van is powered by a 400 horsepower turbocharged EJ257 flat-four connected to the factory four-speed automatic transmission. Some of the few parts that are not from Subaru are the Wilwood brakes and the front suspension is an Art Morrison Mustang II clip.

That's a pretty killer restomod!!! I think the only thing that would have made this build cooler (at least to me) is if you made the front axle driven as well, making this an AWD VW Bus. Not that being RWD takes away from this incredible build... But AWD would have been off the hook.

That is amazing work you have done ! Only two questions: Did I see a scoop underneath to facilitate cooling , and do you see a wheelie bar in the future ? 👍

Wow VW could learnt something from this build man power to the people who build this VW nice hey the amount of effort an time and to the people who had the vision to want this van ,could of let us hear it an go for a ride in it would of been nice never mind, thank you this is a hippie dream van 🇦🇺✌️☮️cheers ps hippie would still go slow ha,ha

Awesome, nothing short of a work of art, would have liked to heard the engine running I can imagine it was awesome too, the P-51 chin scoop very nice touch. How long did it take to do the build and was the cost if you don't mind me asking?
