This is one of my old CZ's that I had sold to a buddy. He grew tired of it and wanted some bling added. So he enlisted me to do this race/resto for him. Many new parts were used, but many original parts are still on the bike.
Nice work. The first CZ I ever saw was in the early '70's at a AMA Moto X in Baldwin,Kansas. Factory rider Jaroslav Falta(sp?) He won and clearly was a cut above just about everybody. This started my love affair with high maintenance European moto x bikes. I came home, sold my TM250 and bought a Maico.
Back in those days. I graduated from a 71. Hodaka. Super Rat to a 74 TM 125. All of us had our own dream bikes. Maico's were mine. Never got to own one and I stopped riding yrs ago. Oh well. Somethings aren't meant to be.
what an awesome job. bought my first CZ 400 from a guy back in 1977. The entire bike minus the frame, tires and wheels came in milk crates. Put is together, road the hell out of it. We called it the trench digger. All my friends had Yamaha's...my old cz would kick their ass's off the line...and stay in the lead until we hit the whoops.....the 2"of travel just would cut it....
I had a CZ 400 back in 1980 and it looked like this bike but it had a metal gas tank in the shape of a coffin. It is the most dangerous thing I've ever ridden. : O
Oh wait! You put the right gas tank on it! Mine was not so shiny though. In fact, it was painted silver. I remember I couldn't see my hands when the bike was running! Then I sold it for $350 and bought a 1978 YZ400 for $600 and what a huge difference that was! The YZ had 11 " of travel. 3 times what the CZ had! And I could see my hands again! lol It was a Cadillac compared to the CZ.
He has a hard time reaching his zipper to pee in the desert! Had to use a pair of needle nose pliers one tiime to help him out. Don't tell anybody! Leaning the bike on the rock is normal a normal CZ deal.
Just so you know, I'm pretty beefy myself. I'm pretty sure I have about 50 pounds on the owner. Of course my beef is all muscle! But the suspension was set up for my girth. So it might even be a little stiff. Don't even go there.....
