Well, Johan, the rest of the world is probably wishing now that you have missed that penalty... as it setup the team to play safe football from minute 2.... and that has backfired ... The early goal has worked against Juve, a year before but not here... we all cried for the Dutch at the end

Still can't figure why he wasn't part of it. Seem Cruijff and van Beveren clashed several times. A pitty cuz he was considered one of the best keepers of the world back then.

@@MOversteegen Because of Holland's makeshift defence - no Mansveld or Hulshof, Michels and Cruyff decided to play an aggressive off side trap and thought that a 'sweeper keeper' who could come out of his penalty area and kick/head the ball away when the trap broke down, was better than a conventional shot stopper. This worked ok up until the final but both Germany's goals were not well struck and Jongbloed didn't move down to either of them. At the end of the day a keeper has to use his hands and make saves!

that he did not shoot penalty in right way......the ball went staight in midlle.....if maier stayed where he was, in midlle he could have had the ball!! his ideia was to shoot the bal in side line.
