Capt Birdie , you took the words right out of my mouth. I used to watch the Persuaders because of this car and my son's name is Dino because of this car.

my humble opinion too! I am 60yo, and had several match box and other brand toy cars of the dino. No matter which angle you look at it, it looks balanced and beautiful. The quintessential sports car.

Dinos, being named after Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari's late son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, credited with designing the first V6 engine that powered the new smaller race cars he convinced his father to build. They have ALWAYS been "classed" as Ferraris and the Dino marque was to honor his memory, and were serious race cars. In fact, all early Dino sports cars actually had Ferrari badging, and the Ferrari Dinos used the same naming convention as the rest of the Ferraris. 1965 was the first year that the Dino only badge appeared on the prototype Dino 166P and from there, the marque was differentiated to simply Dino for, the now famous, six cylinder mass production cars from 1967 to 1974 the Dino 206 GT and the 246 GT and GTS, the replacement for them in 1975 being the 8 cylinder Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS. The Dino 208 GT4 and 308 GT4 were both reverted to the Ferrari marque in May 1976. It is only in the minds of simpletons, and those operating on snobbery above their pocket book, that Dinos were considered "not real" or "junior" Ferraris.

I was interested in this too and I found no less than SEVEN shades of blue the factory offered the Dino in. Since the paint is metallic though that narrows it down some. Probably it's painted in a shade Ferrari called "Bleu Sera Metallizzato Dark Blue Metallic".

@barry rudge Maybe you're right.It's a method I ever use in all my restauration works but I nevever work in a car with a multitubular frame like this.

There is someone making replicas with an upgraded Ferrari engine.

Dino supervised the development of the V6 for both Ferrari - racing duties- and Fiat witch used it -de-tuned, different heads. - on it’s own sports cars. Thus lowering the enginering/building costs. Designed by the Pininfarina house, it was actually built by Fiat. The whole idea was to offer a volume produced entry level, lower cost Ferrari. Enzo hated the idea but had no choice, being ion verge to banckruptie. The snobby Ferraristies refused to recognized it as a « proper » Ferrari. Times have changed now, and Dinos are well received in clubs. Thus the prices for a clean exemple are skyrockting. Some 10 years ago, you could buy decent exemples for not much...

Fair enough. I still like the blue, while the glaring yellow many had would be my first choice.

They seem to indicate at 1:00-1:22 the original color was blue.

That's Azzurro Hyperion Met. It's an original Dino factory color from that year.
