Thanks mate I will get the engine sorted, I would leave it how it is but I’ll struggle to get a roadworthy as they are so strict even about the damage to the fibreglass so it makes it difficult! Cheers for watching!

She’d have electrolysis mate. Very common with 903. Had a 3070 with one in it and replaced one liner then another went so I sold it. Nice video

Definitely some sweet old bangers there a lot of history in one spot! I agree that was a good looking setup old school cool

903 sounded great and the torsion bars look to have given you a reasonable ride bobtailing. I see your air wigwag doesn't retract all the way up like mine.

Thanks Geof it sound even better in person! 100% I really like the torsion bar rear end, the crane obviously helps adding some weight to the back but it’s very smooth for what it is compared to my other one with walking beam in the rear! Yeah it annoys me it must get stuck add it to the long list of jobs!

G,day mate , enjoyed going out for a run with ya , I think you drive pretty bloody good actually, considering how it a very old and worn machine , are you clutch less shifting , you maybe could slow your shift action , sounds like your racing the gear in before engine speed is matched, ps only a couple times , but this was leaving the yard on cold gear box so to say, sad that it's the last drive for a while for the big over haul ,, arse hole to breakfast job ,, everything , look for to seeing your next video ,, cheers bud
@dieseldownunder.
@dieseldownunder. Год назад
Cheers mate I’m getting better I am rushing the changes because the splitter doesn’t work I’m not leaving enough time for the revs to come right down, yes no clutch in the up shift and double clutch on the down shift. After abit of driving it does get easier probably me getting used to it again aswell as the scania is a synchro box so I don’t get much practice with the RR, It is sad but it will be back in no time 10x better than how it is at the moment! Once the sheds cleaned up ill have another video out , thanks again

Hi did it get a bit of attention at the truck show??? Sounds nice how it is but with twin soot shooters it will sound amazing. From kiwi land. Thanks for another awesome video
@dieseldownunder.
@dieseldownunder. 11 месяцев назад
Hey Mate yes had plenty of attention there lots of people knew the truck but hadn’t seen it for years, some blokes that used to drive the truck aswell, still slowly collecting parts for the rebuild so hopefully have some videos in the build in the near future!

I remember commenting before about your Jake issue, did you say it’s got coolant in the oil ? Or did I misunderstand? If so have you figured out conclusively?
@dieseldownunder.
@dieseldownunder. Год назад
Coolant getting into a cylinder and hydro locking is the issue then when I bar it over obviously coolant ends up in the oil, I’m 99% sure it’s a pin hole or cracked liner but still have to disassemble and confirm
@georgerenton965
@georgerenton965 Год назад
Don’t suppose you know which one it is ? If not, pull the exhaust manifolds off. See if there is any signs of water coming out of the exhaust ports. You might have a split injector tube. If one of the exhaust ports looks different than the others like less carbon build up, pull that injector first. Look down the tube and with the cooling system pressurized see if water is leaking from the tube into the cylinder. If you run the engine after the manifolds are removed you might find one of the cylinders has white smoke puffing out of it for a few minutes after start up, or it might even spit coolant on the first couple of revolutions. Usually when it’s a liner that’s pitted the combustion pressure will blow coolant out of the rad top tank. You say that you can free up the engine by baring it over to overcome the hydro lock. You can’t compress a liquid, so if you can overcome it that away, then you can drop the oil pan, put some clean paper on the ground under the engine and have someone bar it over while you look to see which cylinder has coolant dripping from it. To do that test you’ll have to have the injectors installed. Always try to keep the cooling system intact when looking for coolant in the oil problems so you can pressure test it. Don’t overlook the air compressor. Remember I told you about the barring gear where the compressor mounts ? It has an “R” clip that you can remove and you can rotate it so you can tap it in to engage the compressor drive gear. With the rocker covers off ( or watch the timing marks ) identify which cylinder comes up to TDC on the compression stroke and the engine is hydro locking. That’s will also help you identify the culprit cylinder. The top end of the engine, and dipstick tube, and oil filler cap must be cooking like chocolate muse by now. Just trying to save you from a complete tear down. If it comes down to that maybe the best route is to find a running take out, and swap them. Hopefully it’s only an injector tube. Save your strength for lifting the head off. We didn’t have overhead cranes at our shop. 💪🏻

@dieseldownunder. Год назад
@@georgerenton965 great infor George that’s super helpful I am Definitly going to isolate which cylinder it is by removing the exhaust manifolds along with going off which piston is at TDC I should be able to narrow it down! It would be great if it was an injector tube that would save me a lot of work! I’ll figure out which cylinder it is and then remove that injector and see if it’s a tube! It doesn’t seem to be pushing out which I find odd but I’ve only driven it for 30mins max at a time and it has never been under much load, it’s also not dumping much water in the oil hardly any at all there is no condensation in the rocker covers and I only get a couple of drips when I remove the sump plug which is from when I did let it hydro lock one time and turned it over by hand but other than that the oil is clean. As soon as I’ve finished cleaning the shed I’ll bring it in and diagnose exactly what’s going on.
@dieseldownunder.
@dieseldownunder. Год назад
@@georgerenton965 I was tossing up weather or not to swap another engine in but i figured this is the original engine to the truck so I’d like to try and keep it that way once I change one thing I’ll want to change everything and it will snowball from there 😂
@georgerenton965
@georgerenton965 Год назад
Is there any sign of oil in the top in the top tank of the rad, or pressure cap. It’s harder to diagnose when it’s not getting many hours on it.

Do you think you could drive the old girl for 10-12hr days lol, did you say she has a muffler underneath??? If so take it off please, make the stacks 5” or 6” will make her bark more than 7”+
@dieseldownunder.
@dieseldownunder. Год назад
After I’m done with it I think I would have no problems driving it all day, it’s not uncomfortable as it is right now so should be pretty good once I’m done! Yes it has a muffler underneath that will be going in the scrap as a turbo will quiet it down aswell, and I will be going with 6 or 7” stacks max
