The Solid Gold Soul commercial is from the '80s or '90s. But it fits the era.

"Jim" from The Magician series, plying those smooooth moves to the mandatory singing trio in every Burger King location back then. ( See kids what being born decades later caused you to miss out on) It's been said before, but it's pretty bad, when watching older commercials are better than the tripe being churned out ad nauseam. Guess I didn't watch that much t.v. in 1974 because I was pregnant 9 months of it and mostly slept . Funny, when some young people were talking recently they said "The 70s" like they thought we rode in covered wagons and washed clothes on a washboard at the creek.....

Nice video. I still remember a lot of those commercials. That Marilyn McCoo/Billy Davis Jr. song was released in 1976, so that commercial wasn't from 1974 though. Those cars sure look antiquated now, so unstylish and primitive by today's standards. And some of those airline commercials are pretty sexist nowadays. A time capsule to see old Hollywood stars in TV ads.

Some of these I can remember by the look and sound of them but wouldn't know what the heck they were about. I was only a little kid ya know.: Burger King 1:04 Bic 2:33 (I remember especially that last one in a movie theater) RC Cola 5:11 Metropolitan Life 8:09 Hot Wheels Thundershift 500 Set 9:39 (something I wanna have) Taster's Choice 11:03 Snack Pack 11:32 (Maybe I recall that commercial. One of my favorite snacks, of course.) Chuck Wagon 12:03 (with that dog chasing the chuck wagon)

2:50 Orson Bean on the voice-over for Bic. 3:02 the iconic voice of Peter Thomas for Ford and again at 11:42 for Snack Pack. 3:32 Taylor Grant voices the spot for TV Guide. 7:48 Burgess Meredith for United Airlines. 8:39 the unmistakable voice of Alexander Scourby for Chevy. 11:03 the super deep voice of Ken Nordine for Taster's Choice.

I was 14 in 1974, the gas crisis was in 1973 and this is when Japanese cars got a Huge boost, that changed everything, we never talked about gas milage till 1973, American cars were going down and it was the begining of the Japanese cars to slowly take over the industry.

Cleavon Little (or whoever the guy was in "Blazing Saddles" Lol), in the Burger King commercial, Awesome! Ummmm Fred, about the "Solid Gold!" music, the set was offered for 9.95 on Album, not paired with the usual "cassetts or 8-Track tapes', but "& CDs"? CDs or Compact Discs didn't begin to be used as a replacement for vinyl, until 9-10 yrs later, or from 1985 forward! Lol A simple mistake of including it, in this look back at 1974. 😮😂😝☺👍
