Wow that, err, happened! Just come back to re-watch this again and you've been identified as having made a profitable video for them... Hope to see some more miracle working of your brand soon, stay well man.
I loved the interview with the gentleman at the end. In so many ways he reminded me of my grandfather. I would love to be able to sit and visit with him for hours. I hope he gets better. People like him are leaving this world too fast.
@@renekenshin6573 my kitchen 16 inch flat lcd thing is still working at now 10 years old....fingers crossed, had one cap replaced so far, one other is starting to bulge...the main living room 36 inch samsung was given to me as dead, scrap, but was only dry arced joint on mains input socket, not sure of age but probably 6 to 8 years...
Have a 12 year old Panasonic 40 inch still fine. But your right wouldn't last long storage in any condition . Modern stuff don't like been powered down long term.
The Guitologist told me about your channel. I remember going through old SAMS tv schematics back in highschool. Back when they actually taught electronics class. :)
This is the same model that my family had in the 70s. We kept it until my grandparents passed and we ended up with their Hitachi console. Never needed service.
Shango, friend, i was TV CRT technician por many year here in Brazil, worked on 12 TV repair shops in BR and one there in the United States, and also teach some tips of electronics in my channel on RU-vid, in Portuguese, of course, but one thing i learned on RU-vid: The RU-vid not transform you to TV or any electronics technician from zero. Only help you to improve your knowledge about this area, but only for who is professional or student. However if you want to become a great professional in this area, study good books and courses (i also sell courses) in English, Portuguese, Spanish, whatever in your language. And practice in the counter of some repair shop or in your own home if you can. Just this way you going to be a great professional and that tips in You tube channels like this will help you alot. Thanks for the videos Shango, keep going you channel is awsome.
Hi Shango066, I sure enjoy your videos on the restoring of old TV sets. I use to work at a TV repair shop in the late 1970s. The place was Grand TV in Duluth MN & they went out of business in the 1990s. I my self had a TV VCR shop in the late 1980s up till the year 2002. I find it cool & incredible your able to fix up very old B&W TVs for folks out there in CA. Up here in MN most every one has moved to the new HD TVs & lots of older normal working TV sets People have quit using & lots old Picture Tube TVs go to the dump or to recycling places. I am retired now & My Hobby over the past years has been restoring old Ampro reel to reel Tape recorders. The Ampro 758 I had when I was only 12 years old & the Ampro 758 & 757 were made in 1955 & 1956. Back in 1973 I was fixing it all the time. I all ways wanted to find another Ampro 758 over the 1980s & 1990s & never could find one. In 2007 I found one on ebay & I fiixed it up & restored it. Then after that I found more Ampro 758s & the Ampro 757 & I was buying them on ebay & fixing them up & I now got 10 of them & they all work very good. I all so fix & repair small Portable 5" reel to reel players to & some Sony Stereo reel to reel recorders. I fixed & restored them by new Tubes & Belts & adjusting them & replacing Audio Heads if needed. I love all kind of older Music & enjoy recording off them old Ampro units when I get some new old 45s & 78s or 33 LP Records. Your Videos are incredible & since Christmas time I enjoyed lots of your old TV restoring on RU-vid. Happy new year out there I sure wish you were closer. We have a lot in common in the Electronics world. take care. Jerry.
That is truely amazing that the TV works, I can imagine the smell of the rat and mice feacies. The spiderweb HV indicators are magic. That part with the TV location and the old guy stopping and starting the generator is awesome. Excellent video loved all 74 minutes of it.
I'd rather see ads/product placement within a video than the ads youtube serves, I don't trust them at all. That said, this was quite the wild resurrection, thank you for tackling it! Nice acquisition video, great old generator, and a cool ol' fellow! Gotta respect the old guys for doing what they did with old well-built equipment!
Shango...the TV set was so dirty when you were up close I thought my screen was dirty and tryed wiping it off...lol...cool that you resurrected it for one more show...I've been working on vintage TVs for a while now and appreciate your videos they've help me allot...thank you.....
This video has given me some hope. I picked up a boat anchor DuMont 304A Oscilligraph scope at a yard sale for pretty cheap. Got it home and discovered it had been about 8 inches deep in water, there was silt all over everything inside. But being afraid to power it up because of crud in the transformer made me set the restoration project aside. But seeing this old girl come to life has sparked some hope in me that it's a viable restore.
That generator brings back memories of riding on my grandfather’s 2 cylinder powered John Deere tractor as a kid. Very low rpm, “Jonnie popper” he’d call it.
I really like your old TV resurrection videos, that is what brought me to your channel. But the video and the end with that old diesel motor was a very nice surprise. Thanks for your great content!
I love your channel, down to earth, straight forward. I agree with you comments on the ad revenue. I don't blog never will. I am really glad you do as with others. What I hate is the effing click bait that has overtaken the channels on YT. I am sick of god channels using click bait to promote for money. I will support yours all day. You have always been just honest. Thank you. Btw. For those who don't know, to support, you need to watch the entire ad. Don't skip the ad. It's an exchange. If you want videos, watch the ads. Simple.
Wow your digital signal over there is worse than ours in the UK! Can’t say I’ve ever seen Anything as crusty as that TV set so for it to work it’s amazing.thanks for the 80s style max headroom moments on the poor signal digital tv too! Great video!
I’m more into Computers than electronics, but your videos are so interesting. Seeing a TV in that state still work is simply awesome. Good stuff Shango!
The Newage Generator, Stamford, England - I live 72 miles from there. There's a company on the same road called Cummins Generator Technologies. Their business overview states they make AC generators from 0.6 to 20,000kVA under the MARKON, STAMFORD and AvK product brands. So I guess they're still going..sort of.
I imagine any engineer or dealer who would possibly have worked with these and still alive and well would be proud and maybe a little surprised this set is working after such treatment.
great video and I love how they stil use engine power in places . this is another great video and I enjoy all of your videos thank you for sharing I hoppe that this guy is still around he really is spunky
I agree.. I am a listener to several hour long podcast shows on RU-vid. When im getting interrupted every 15minutes with OBNOXIOUSLY loud ads then a ad blocker is a must.. Now if there was a way i could pay to get rid of these damn ads i would gladly do it but as YT red is not available in Norway then i have no choice..
24 ads... 1 in beginning... a few minutes without then they start... after that it's like some are less than 30 seconds apart... like wtf is up with that!!!
The elites don’t want you fixing stuff they want you taking 2nd and 3rd mortgages, high interest credit to buy hdtv flat screens that are worthless in 2 months.
Calculators do for people who add or subtract or multiply exactly what word correct for people who cannot spell your videos are very entertaining as well as learning a lot from them
whenever the tv source was lagging and looping the same sound over and over it reminded me of the scene from back to the future 2 when he's in the 80s Cafe the digital ordering screens in the movie do almost the same thing
Fantastic video, theTV. the location, that engine, wonderfull stuff shango. I know he knows that engine like the back of his hand, but anyone else feel a tad uncomfortable with how close to that 400lb flywheel he was.
This set seemed to be 10 years ahead of its time. Unlike my comment... 3 years late. Can't believe it came up after sitting in a mine, in water for who knows how long. Valves yes, but I.Cs??? Especially 1970's early production stuff. Wow.
i think this if it fully gets working shows how good old stuff was made, and how even in the worsetest conditions can still work, take note ppl making stuff today
If anybody is interested Witte eventually was sold to Arrow. any if you are in the oil field you are very familiar to Arrow. Arrow engines were famous for people starting them on a pump jack and remembering years later to go back and check on them... They still build these engines today. arrowengine.com/en/ the website tells you how to change the oil...because they are running pumps etc.. and can't be turned off you drain the oil while adding new oil into the filter. An oil change w/o shutting it down...
I still have ads on RU-vid since I have it on the PlayStation connected to the TV. RU-vid Red seems to be a a good option but its not available here and I doubt it gives the same amount of revenue as the regular ads. I don't have cable or any other subscription service anymore because of it and I do really enjoy your content!
I would never install an add blocker just because I know it helps you and your channel. Your channel is full of knowledge and you deserve any money you can make on those adds. How hard is it to hit the skip button anyway!?
Without an addblocker my pc would be unusable on the internet. The adds also eat a lot of badwith. So mine stays on all the time. I disable it just for certain sites. For example I am a user on audiokarma, and I disabled the addblocker for their site. I like your channel and I disabled it here too. I disable the addblocker for every thing on the net that I like, find useful and like to support even a little. But surfing the net without an addblocker? The aggressiveness of the adverts drives me mad.
We had a 1974 Magnavox with plug in modules. And instant on. I think the filament in the picture tube was always on. There was a switch to turn it off. 25 inch Console, though.
Hi shango066, love the video. although, with all the thick covering on the components and boards I am still waiting for a smoldering flaming flicker from all that insulation thats covering everything thats probably about 300 degrees by now lol
Hi. I stumbled across this channel and have enjoyed watching you repair tv's. My dad fixed the old vacum tube type tv's when I was growing up. I even learned picture tube changing, adjusting color bias, purity, and convergence. this brings back memories. Would you be interested in the remnants of my father's collection? He passed away many years ago and have several tv's from the 1940's and 50's and many vacum tv tubes. I even have a round picture tube admiral chassis with everything. If you can let me know by comment or some other means that would be good.
well you did it you now proved that you can fix buried alive televison sets . now what is next on your job description . you have done almost everything all the best have a very happy and healthy new year and a very merry chirstmas and all the best
You Can and I do. I use ublock origin For channels I like and support it's off, like Shango's. If there are a lot of ads I will let them plat through and then re-watch with the ad block on
Also thought it was hilarious when you started the TV up and went to the channel with the game on it and the coach that we've been playing with wet balls all week...I busted up man...you should watch that again...
This one looks interesting! No ad blocking this end chief, compared to the days of watching commercial television adverts on youtube seem like nothing. If you get an extra cent or two from 5 seconds of my time then its a very small price indeed to pay to watch your content and literally the very least i can do to support the channel.
never thought this would work! I wonder where philco stood in the market at the time this was manufactured? We didnt really have USA brand TVs in the uk as we made most of our own in those days, so most USA brands are unfamiliar to me. I cant imagine a mid-70's uk colour tv being so eager to power up
I'm familiar with the predicta, we get American Pickers over here on one of the minor channels and they 'picked' a predicta a few months ago. For sheer eye-appeal you can't beat them! I believe Philco-Ford won the contract to build the new mission control consoles in Houston ready for Apollo.
I have a 27" CRT i got free in October 2022 and the COZI tv logo gets cut off and says "COZ" i picked up a 20" the other day and the COZI tv logo isn't cut off for some reason. I wonder where they got the Panasonic TV from, that'd be an interesting story.
