This 1975 Ferrari Dino 208 GT4 is one of 840 examples built to avoid Italy’s tax on cars with engines displacing more than two liters, and refurbishment work carried out under prior ownership consisted of rebuilding the 1,991cc V8 to displace 3.0 liters and repainting the Hyperion Azzurro Metalizzato exterior. The seating was reupholstered in brown cloth and beige leather, and the car is further equipped with a five-speed manual transaxle, four-wheel independent suspension, and 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels in addition to air conditioning, power windows, and a Clarion CD stereo. The car was purchased by its current owner in 2022 after it was listed on BaT in August of that year. In February 2024, the starter was rebuilt and a battery terminal was replaced. This 208 GT4 is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment in Illinois with service records, a period brochure, and a clean Colorado title.
The 208 GT4 shares bodywork with the Bertone-designed 308 GT4, with steel panels mounted over a tubular chassis. Unique to the 208 GT4 is a smaller front grille opening with horizontal strakes, and this example was repainted under prior ownership in what is said to be its factory shade of Hyperion Azzurro Metalizzato. Exterior details include retractable headlights, chrome trim, and European-spec bumpers with integrated lights as well as a vertical rear window, quad exhaust outlets, and boomerang-shaped air intakes on the sail panels. The Dino badging has been swapped for Ferrari emblems.
Silver-finished 14″ Cromodora wheels with Cavallino Rampante center caps are mounted with 205/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The four-wheel independent suspension is fitted with front and rear anti-roll bars, and braking is handled by a disc at each corner.
The 2+2 seating was reupholstered circa 2018 in Chocolate Brown cloth with beige leather side accents and blue piping. Appointments include air conditioning, power windows, a gated shifter, front and rear three-point seatbelts, floor mats, a Clarion CD stereo, and a mirror mounted to the glove box lid. Additional interior work under prior ownership included replacing the carpets and re-trimming the dash.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of a driver interface that was fitted with silver-tone panels. Dino-branded Veglia Borletti instrumentation housed therein consists of a 280-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 49k kilometers (~30k miles), approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.
The transversely-mounted 1,991cc DOHC V8 was rebuilt under prior ownership, and its displacement was increased to 3.0 liters with JE pistons, oversized stainless-steel valves, ported cylinder heads, and P6 camshafts. Induction is via quad Weber 34 DCNF carburetors, ignition is managed by a twin-coil system, and previously installed smog equipment was removed. In February 2024, the starter was rebuilt and the positive battery terminal was replaced.

Utterly gorgeous - really love the GT4, it is so iconic of the mid-70s. This car is just fabulous!
